I didn't realize you could do this with the PS3 until recently. I would have bought one, if you still could.
Oh well :)
"Running Linux on your system meant that there could be people supplying games and not paying Sony royalties."
So in my case - that means, not only will I not be buying any games, which of course, I would have bought some - but I won't be buying the hardware either.
Think I'll hang out at the park, play video games, swing by the library for a good book and not really give a rat's ass about what Hollywood does.
Not worth the time to download it, nor is it worth the cost to buy it for inflated amounts.
It'll be on On-Demand eventually, and maybe I'll watch it. Already seen it at the cinema anyway. I was going to go this last weekend, but spent the cash on a new game and food to grill out.
I'll stick with the freedom of Linux and relative freedom of Windows, I do believe. I don't want to get a pre-jailed machine I have to worry about busting out to use the way I want to.
Good, maybe soon we'll get lower cost movies from these places with multiple movies on a single CD to increase the value of what we pay for.
Hey - I snagged some low budget Martial Arts videos from a Chinese producer a couple months ago at a thrift store. They were new videos @ a buck each - what did I have to loose?
The quality and dubbing left a lot to be desired. The packaging was cheap, but the story - while a bit 'out there' was good enough and it was more entertaining, even if just from a comical standpoint than half of what Hollywood's puked out in the last 10 years.
Would I buy more of them? lol, yep.
Will I buy $19.99 DVDs? lol, no thanks.
Just not worth that much, to be honest. I'm patient, I'll wait for it on TV or buy a used copy somewhere. DVD's will scratch at some point, so used/new - doesn't matter. Anymore the first thing I do witha DVD when I get it, is rip it, the convert to digital and re-burn on a DVD, usually compressing 4 onto a disc.
I'm not all bent up on HD yet - still too costly.
I like movies and all, but there's a limit of what they are worth. For the cost of 3 movies over a weekend, new on DVD - I can find something better to do.
when piracy was peaked in Canada that sales of music were up 110%, and as they throttled and capped sales went down
people cant try before they buy , they just DON'T BUY
and if i cant afford it and tell my bud who might take his wife or friend or whatever to see a film then ive adverted your flick freely and word a mouth is always the most powerful advertisement
You are 100% right. Everyone - think to yourself...
how many CD's have you went out and purchased *BEFORE* you had heard anything on the CD?
In my case, out of the many CD's I own - maybe one or two. - Maybe.
Honestly; I prefer to play on a PC. I'm not much into the consoles anymore. I like the flexibility of the PC, plus I've never really cared for most of the controllers out there. Mouse and Keyboard for me :)
Nice thing about PC games, is even if a lot of development stops for them, existing games can be modified so heavily they are good for quite sometime.
Why governments fail and have to be revolutionized every 300-500 years. I'm beginning to see why.
When everything is "too big to fail", the whole system fails.
I believe it's called voyeurism. And granted, there is gonna be a small voyeur in each and everyone of us that makes us feel that heady rush of knowing that we're watching someone else act life in real time, knowing that we're not watching a script but something else entirely true.
But if someone knows they are being watched, it's always a bit 'different'.
Hmmm...this is never gonna end. Everyone should get paid anytime anything get sold.
lol, only as long as they take on liability and maintenance on said items as well.
If someone is saying they should 'get a cut' - that means they have a 'vested interest' in the item. If they have a 'vested interest' in an item, they should also have liability and responsibility to said item.
Maybe there's a market answer to looking for genuine infringement. If ISPs charged $200 or $500 per IP search, these guys might have to be more discriminating. I mean, since these groups have no real evidence, there's no obligation to do this for cheap, is there?
Talk about a new revenue stream!
There is, of course, no 'LAW' stating the form must be faxed or emailed, I suspect.
You know, I never would have known (or installed and used) the script if Facebook hadn't been a bully about it. Thanks to the "Streisand Effect", not only is my news feed cleaner, but I'll be passing this along to ALL my friends and helping them install it too.
Thanks Facebook!
Likewise, I will pass this on to all the people I know on Facebook too :)
So little mikee, the fans of those four shows aren't happy that they are able to watch them anytime anywhere without the threat of Hollywood disconnecting their internet?
In a market going in the opposite direction, shouldn't you be raving about them actually making progress in allowing you to watch what you want when you want WITHOUT having to break laws (oh wait infringe on copyrights)?
I'd say having 4 shows I can watch without fear of a DCMA is better than having to risk having my internet shut off or wait a year for the DVDs just to watch what I want to watch is better than nothing.
So little mikee even if there is a fee for watching them, I figure someone has to pay the cost of the bandwidth for streaming the shows over the internet
And I can continue to buy $2.00 DVD's at the pawn shop - pay for neither and worry about nothing.
Or just go to the library and check out whatever.
No, they can keep the 4 shows, there's millions of hours of free video on the 'net anyway. Doesn't have to be something produced by 'big media' to be entertaining - YouTube's a good example.
And I'm patient, there is lots made in the 70's, 80's, and 90's I haven't seen just yet, so maybe by the time I catch up, I'll worry about it.
Oh no, wait I won't - just because of the prices and the huge piles of BS, I watch very little TV anymore - maybe, maybe... 4 hours a week, max.
