Yes the article concerning the TV networking site is the third link in the post under "new report" (its the blue letters).
This article, in french, does not site any sources for any of its data except for a claim that the number of Video on Demands ordered from Canal+ (company?) went up by 20%. The link they give is to lefigaro.fr, which gets this info from a tweet from the "director of the film within the Canal+ group" (second link "20% increase, blue letters) that goes google translated like this "Megamachin closing, the Vod CANALPLAY took 20% in 7d. I await confirmation of final figures. Yalla!" Notice that he is "AWAITING FINAL FIGURES". So, if you'll actaully take the time to research what your talking about before you spout out random data, maybe you won't make such a fool of your self next time.
Think of it this way, if a non-buyer shares with another the content he is enjoying, that person who would have otherwise never even considered the product now has a choice of buy or pirate, which is a higher chance of producing a sale then before when he wouldn't even consider it.
I don't see what you mean "They don't want THAT content, the want the good stuff, the HBO stuff, the network stuff."? I think you on the right track that it justifies a new content industry, but I don't see how a "new content" industry will in anyway affect the actual content being made. Unless you think anything created by a "new content" type industry is automatically inferior to that of the old, which is completely absurd!
The problem isn't that people don't want legitimate "instant content" models of business, the reason so few exist is because Hollywood and the MAFIAA sue, lobby, and all around generally bully them out of business, or at least they try their hardest too.
If they can make more money scamming a few people with overpriced products rather then selling it at a reasonable cost, then let them do it, see if I care! There's plenty of stuff out there that Hollywood, as much as they wish they could, doesn't have a copyright on.
To the AC who said "What is the most funny is that when piracy becomes completely successful, there will be nothing new left to pirate."
This is completely false, for example an artist who knows what to do: from LapFox Trax Q&A
Q: I PIRATED YOUR MUSIC!
A: great! piracy rules. piracy and filesharing are great promotional tools, and help spread the word of artists. people that love the music they pirate generally do end up supporting the artists, and the only people that think otherwise are the RIAA and the labels under its umbrella. if you buy some music from me and want to send it to your friends, go ahead! i don't care what you do with it as long as you aren't directly reselling or bootlegging it as a whole. use it in your YouTube videos, post it on your website, whatever!
Piracy has been going on since even before the button guilds in France during the middle ages, it existed then, and will continue to exist in some shape or form.
Copying is in the human nature, and that can't be suppressed.
"pay a small amount for speedy downloads" notice the word PAY you just used in you argument there, piracy is when you download something without PAYING. Therefore by paying it's not really piracy, it's just another form of distribution, except in this case MegaUpload was the distributor, and they were doing it much much more efficiently then Hollywood.

This is from an artist who understands that not everyone will want to buy something that they may or may not enjoy right off the bat.
