I once read about why it was established, and at the time I thought it made some sense. But now, seeing how it works in practice? I don't bother voting for president anymore because I know my state will vote R no matter who's running. With the electoral college in place, my vote doesn't count - unless, of course, I vote like most in my state.
Re: What was that saying about rocks and glass houses again...?
but 'handful of mega corporations ... living fat off the artistic, cultural, and economic value everyone else creates online' sounds like a dead ringer for the labels
I honestly thought that's who he was talking about. Of course, with the melodramatic tone and overly creative language (for the apparent target audience) of the video it wasn't abundantly clear to me which side he was on. So at that point I thought "so he is talking about the labels vs the artists."
Dude needs to stick to music. He's brilliant in that field.
There are three reasons I no longer watch NFL games.
1 - Yeah, the ads. Way too many. Like Bisciotti said, commercials, kick the ball, more commercials. Ridiculous. It surprised me to learn they only have 5 spots per quarter.
2 - The game announcers. These guys can be so hard to listen to. It seems that actually talking about the plays happening on the field is not top priority.
3 - And I might be in the minority here, but I'm tired of the dancing and other for-the-cameras displays. Sure, when they make the big plays you expect and can even enjoy the celebration, but to me it's mostly become play acting now.
I, like Chris, have started watching soccer, and one day I might actually understand what off sides means. It's 45+ minutes at a time of solid game play before half-time commercials, and the announcers actually call the game.
I've got forwarding set up for one of my email addresses with Namecheap as well. I only check that account every couple of weeks, so I forward it's email to the address I use daily.
And I just checked, yes you can definitely set it up to forward to any address.
Music groups are pushing for a range of new laws and regulations that they believe are vital to help their businesses survive in the digital era.
Perhaps they should review the lyrics of one of their own, because the times they are a-changin'.
The whole song seems appropriate but this part stood out to me -
Your sons and your daughters Are beyond your command Your old road is rapidly agin’ Please get out of the new one if you can’t lend your hand For the times they are a-changin’
Just what percentage of a population needs to be insulted before it becomes wrong? (And I am certainly not suggesting 100%, because you cannot please all the people all the time. You just can't.)
But I find myself wondering about reason behind this number.
Are the majority (but certainly not vast majority) truly not bothered by this because they don't consider it an insult?
Have they lost their sense of cultural pride and just don't care (and being a white guy from the south, what do I know about cultural pride really)?
Do they have a cultural "sticks and stones" pov, and from what you're pointing out in their past and from what I've seen of their present lifestyle, why would they give a fucking fuck about the fucking NFL?
Are their any Native Americans reading this blog who can give me a clue?
I'm with those who believe that simply not watching any movies only serves to take you out of the equation. You're no longer a data point showing a demand for different terms.
If you choose by your definition to truly boycott, that's fine, but in my opinion it only affects your own peace of mind. You become a non-entity to the entertainment industry and will have little to no effect on the outcome.

Homo is derogatory slang.
Homophobe is defined in the Merriam-Webster online dictionary as "a person who hates or is afraid of homosexuals or treats them badly."
So yeah, calling someone a homo is meant as an insult. Calling someone a homophobe is descriptive.
