I am reminded of when in my youth, high school, early 70s, my Social Studies (do they still call it that?) teacher, the one who promised us a 4-day work week was right around the corner, praised the Japanese corporate system for its 5 and 10 year plans, and not chasing quarterly numbers, and how American corporations would all soon follow suit. He was of course wrong, and by the 80s Japanese corporations were modelling themselves on US companies and Wall Street. We were all full of hope and dreams back then.
There has also been some speculation, just speculation, especially regarding some Exchange 0-days, that Microsoft may be sitting on patching reported vulnerabilities that are binging exploited by US intelligence.
I finally got some money together to replace a dying external hdd. I go online shopping to find that 1) they've almost doubled in price and 2) they are pretty much out of stock everywhere. So, yeah, I have no love for the Chia.
What's the difference between an "estate of" and a copyright troll? Are there any "estates of" that are anything but groups that chase down and collect money for works created by dead people?
I suppose. There are podcasts that I would like to listen to that I don't because they are only on Apple, and I won't do DRM and I want to download them to listen at my convenience. For the time being there are more than enough that meet that criteria.
Three of the many congress critters who don't care about legislation, just making a name for themselves. The real point of this was just to appease and fire up their base, doesn't matter if it passes or not.
"what they see as crime". I suppose if they are law enforcement officers or officers of the court, perhaps even legislators, but just because something isn't mundane doesn't make it a crime, or even a possible crime. The unusual isn't illegal. There comes a time for common sense over paranoia. Yes, wasting police time is a crime, and if something doesn't look like an actual crime then the likelihood is that it isn't.
I dislike the DMCA, but if there is going to be an attempt to "improve" it I wouldn't trust it to come from Tillis. Perhaps if Ron Wyden were involved I would think differently.

To me it looks like everything else Trump has done, something to help his re-election. In this case by creating a new Cold War, with China this time, with the proviso that everyone should be scared and only Trump can keep them safe. Everything else is just a side benefit for him.

I think it's going easy on China to call it authoritarian. Totalitarian is the right word.

Two notes... first, it's the MyBook Live, the one that is network attached, not the regular MyBook that attaches directly to a computer.
Second, they were originally saying it was an old, fixed bug and people are SOL, but now it has been revealed that it is also a new 0-day.
