i was speaking on the case of assange. it's easier to prove that assange broke the CFAA than to prove that he was working as a russian asset. the evidence assange was an asset is strong but circumstantial, the evidence assange broke the CFAA is close to irrefutable.
Glenn Greenwald case shows that brazil is attempting to punish a reporter criminally. the assange case shows that the united states is not ready for espionage in the new era of technology and computers.
it's easier to prove he broke the CFAA than it would be that he was committing espionage as a foreign agent of Russia. the laws of america are so far behind the digital times it should be a crime.
or course america's obsolete and inadequate criminal code is all part of the plan for various domestic factions hurting America.
they are nothing alike. Julian Assange was at minimum an asset of Russia using the cover of journalism to damage Russia's competing nation and rival states stability & credibility. Glenn Greenwald was a journalist doing the job of exposing corruption and is now facing a drummed up criminal charge in fuel a falsified attempt to arrest, deport him and presumably murder him. to compare Glenn Greenwald to Julian Assange is an insult to Glenn. what we are watching is an attempt to repeat what happened to journalist Jamal Khashoggi
if this is not overturned by the higher courts than we have just seen one of the worst anti first amendment rulings of this decade. furthermore, this is the first step in many's envisioned oligopoly future where corporations have replaced the state and consumption is mandatory.
the fact of the matter is even though this power is not meant for the general public there will be some hacker teen or something who finds a way to abuse this. people swore up and down for years the dcma proponents said it couldnt be abused on a large scale and then a 16 year old kid used it to take down four major store chains websites for laughs and now it's routinely being done
this is nothing more than one city's attempt to drum up money through fines by imprisoning non compliant business owners and then using the footage to fine people who litter, or commit other menial "lawbreaking". this is a fine example of a city drumming up more cash for the "poor impoverished" police department and city officials salary by fleecing citizens and tourists alike.
reality: "reality is defined as the only place where a person doing what is right can be sued and harassed by those who are committing wrong acts into losing everything or even put into a jail cell."
imagine the next james bond movie where it's a trial and ernst blofeld is suing mi6 and james bond for the lost revenue from them stopping him and spectre from taking over the world you know what? it just hit me with investor/state dispute laws, we might already have seen this.
but seriously there need's a to be a law preventing criminal charges and lawsuits being filed against whistle blowers by anyone connected to the company or persons they whistle blew on.
after the end of the world only three things will be left, copyright maximalists, cockroaches and spam bots. and dammit that's a postapoclyptic fight for control of the world i kinda wanna see.
he ain't going to have much luck hiding his emails now that U.S. Court of Appeals in recent District of Columbia Circuit court case of Competitive Enterprise Institute v. Office of Science and Technology Policy. a public official's private email is fair game for FOIA requests.
one can only hope that a lawyer is already signing the tenants up to sue. you cannot have an addendum to a lease and be legally binding that isn't signed and dated by the tenant as far as a i know and I've had a few of them over the years.
when you say that artists loose can't they "remaster" their songs and take back the copyrights? essentially using this to loophole their music out of the hands of the labels.
the only person who should be charged is Guthrie and Reilly, who began a criminal conspiracy to harass someone and deprive them of their rights as a citizen. this crime was furthermore exasperated by a frivolous complaint to the prosecutor resulting in someone being detained by the police.
meanwhile the offended party incited what amounts to a criminal conspiracy, harassment, false allegations of child molestation and a half dozen other SERIOUS charges. and if the prosecutor were to be asked why they weren't charged for these serious criminal acts, i bet the underlying implication was that they avoided arrest because they are women.
the only way are privacy and our rights can be secured is to get legislation passed that closes the FISA court permanently and bars anything resembling it from ever being done again

we take away a corporations right to sue individuals for copyright infringement and make it so they can only sue other companies for infringement.
and we put a one million per mistake penalty of something is either fair use or they issued a claim on an IP they don't own.
