I wonder if the governements wordlwide will force manufacturers to install backdoors, wouldn't that undermine the reliability of evidence collected using backdoor tech.
Given the fact that encryption usually oovides not only the confidentiality but integrity of the data too,
the accused can claim that given the fact that device is insecure 3rd party is able to tamper with the device(or communication) content.
The only way to stop this abuse of DMCA is to start using it against lawmakers themselves.
People need to start send DMCA takedown notices to all material published by lawmakers, to let them taste their own medicine....
The change will come rapidly.
Given that "governments cannot pass a law that kicks people off the internet"
It seems that judge's order restricting access to internet to the defendant in let say hacking case, is also illegal...
Or am I wrong on this?
In this specific case the cops could use stingray to determine phone number, and then subpoena telco for owner info...
Aftrewards it will be able to oblige owner to unlock the phone
Article 13 does not apply for open source development and sharing sites,
so Any site can provide a link to a small Gitlab instance and claim immunity...
I think to provoke the reform to impose penalties for bogus DMCA claims, one need to organise a coordinated campaign of such claims against web pages of congressmen. Imagine a day with DMCA takedown of web sites of ALL congressmen. The legislation will be amended next week!!!!
It could be that she said to her boyfriend/hysband that she's in N.Y. on business and went instead to L.A. with another guy....
Now it could be that publicity around her presumed stay in LA is causing problems with her husband.
This could explain the legal threats.
It could be another way around too: Somebody WANTED to cause her problems with her husband and so spread info (or lies) about her stay in L.A.
In this kind if situation people often behave irrationally...

During last 3-4 years i'm thinking about very similar scheme with following twist:
Each buyer should be offered the choice to simply download the music (for free) or to pay for a 'sponsor token'.
The buyer will distribute the music together with 'his sponsor token'.
Somebody who got music from the primary buyer can pay for
his own 'sponsor token'. When paying for that token the buyer can present the 'sponsor token' of the primary buyer and in that case the primary buyer will get some renumeration.
EFF should launch a class action against gouvernement for illegal domain sesures...
