Sounds to me like Apple needs to do to the US Government what Google did to German News sites. Simply give them what they ask for and a little more - turn off all encryption for US Government phones. :)

The one thing I never see mentioned is encryption is relatively new, but codes have been around for centuries. One time pads and book ciphers have been around almost as long as there have been books. If "going dark" was a thing, why didn't J. Edgar Hoover whine about codes and needing code breakers?
Sounds to me like the EU should provide a free upload filter that any company can CHOOSE to use... Then when it doesn't work (like we all know it WILL), the EU itself would be responsible for the failure and the fines. :)

Seriously? Have you ever went to Google News? It displays a list of news HEADLINES with links to the story.
If the "story" is completely summed up in the headline, it's probably not a story you deserve to be paid to write.
