This is flat out wrong. The amount of money and new business that has flowed into New Orleans as a result of the film industry is clear to anyone who lives there. It has created jobs for several of my friends, who would otherwise just be working retail. The only downside to the subsidies, is that when they were taken away, those jobs disappeared. Now that they're back again, New Orleans' economy is surging. The city itself has improved as a direct result of the film industry's presence.
