My main takeaway from Lowery's letter is that he's mad about what he perceives as a sense of entitlement by some music consumers (especially younger ones), as if they feel illegally downloading media and not paying for it, ever, is their right. I know that there are people like that out there, but I don't think they're the rule, I think they are the exception.
And people who steal music indiscriminately, without a care in the world about the artist? They probably weren't going to buy it anyway, so the net loss for the artist is zero.
Also, the money an artist makes on a major label (that they do not own/control) is nothing compared to the money they make touring. Smart artists realize that, and write off music piracy as advertising for their tours./div>
