The *IAAs accomplished what they wanted, whether it ends up being declared legal or not. This was essentially a court-based DDOS attack against Megaupload to put them out of business.
"That's the kind of enforcement he's supporting?"
Yes, Cary Sherman supports the "he gets what he wants when he wants it" kind of enforcement. That's what all the *IAAs support./div>
1) They are no way targeted to my interests
Tell me when the next movie or book I may like
is coming out; where cheaper gas is, etc.
DONT tell me about "reality shows", alcohol, drugs,
lawyers, semi sleazy "chat lines", and vacations
in the bahamas!
2) They are repeated far too much
Sometimes three times within the same break!
At least do four versions, and don't run them back to
back, please!/div>
If everyone would cancel their contracts and hand back their devices when changes like this occur, the service providers would soon quit this foolishness.
As long as Service providers can depend on customers just complaining and continuing to pay them, they have no reason to stop gouging. They know that even if they lose a handful of customers, there are plenty more who will buy their misrepresentations.
If you don't like contract changes, ditch your phone, and tell the provider WHY. Leave your money in your pocket, and don't give it to corporate liars.
A suggestion; if you MUST make phone calls and can disconnect yourself from mobile internet, get a "pay as you go" phone from the local Walmart, and make do. Your wallet will thank you!/div>
The horse and buggy industry would still be in business and making healthy profits if they were allowed to make "campaign contributions" in their day, as is done now./div>
At this point, it doesn't matter if MegaUpload sues or not. The DOJ has accomplished their purpose... they totally disrupted MegaUpload and took it offline, and made their corporate (masters) sponsors happy./div>
One simple fact; most people dislike reruns. Commercials by definition are rerun more than ANY OTHER CONTENT on TV. How many times have you seen (and liked) a commercial when you first saw it? Yeah me too; there are some I thought were cute or clever or "wow I've never seen THAT before" the first time...but after the 50th time?... not so much./div>
Online streaming video sites that include commercials already disable FF & RW controls during the commercials.
Since so many people now have cameras attached to their TVs (kinect, etc) I can easily see a time in the future when if you leave the room or don't pay attention to the commercials, playback will pause until you _DO_ pay attention.
And if you try to get around this somehow, the media you WANT to watch simply won't be displayed at all./div>
Big media seems to be saying "the job's not done until the internet doesn't run".
What they appear to want is roll back time to pre-1980 where they were the _only_ source of media, and in total control of pricing and terms.
DVRs, Streaming Media, etc... they want it ALL GONE so they don't have to spend any more time/money on Government lobbying, DMCA takedowns, and anything similar./div>
Google has had to deal with enough criticism over the sharing of information between their sites, and with their trading partners. Why get involved with this as well?
Besides they likely feel they're catching enough flack from the Government, the RIAA and the MPAA over "not doing enough to curb piracy".../div>
