To paraphrase Upton Sinclair, “It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his campaign contributions depends on his not understanding it.”
We need a (preferably obscene) name, for Apple and John Deere and who knows how many other corporations, salivating over making you pay over and over again for things that by all rights belong to you.
Hopefully "will soon be 17". As near as I can tell, Gov Inslee has yet to sign the Bill ("Public Broadband Act, HB 1336"), or to veto the competing watered down piece of crap (SB 5383). I can't find anything indicating which way he'll go...
For some tiny fraction of a cent added to the tax on a gallon of gas, the government could insure every driver on the road. It would make so much sense to do this, but too many income streams would be affected, and therefore it will never be done.
Ya know, when you have to make a specific rule forbidding (actual, graphic) shitposting, that MIGHT be a sign that you're catering to a demographic that really shouldn't be catered to.
Unfortunately, it soon became apparent the rollout may have outpaced internal quality control. The built-in auto-tagging system utilizing Google's AI began tagging Black people as "gorillas," resulting in backlash from users and critics who believed Google's algorithm was racist.
Completing the quote
Not in any way trying to detract from That One Guy's awesome post, but for those who were wondering: In Rev Barnhart's quote where it says
it should say

Of course, a little judicious self-disemvoweling can go a long way toward increasing impact. I can guarantee you that the people who find
written on their windshield with yelllow grease pencil know exactly what the message is.
I have never done this myself... as far as you know.

Not irony, just good old garden-variety hypocrisy

If only there could be a 55 month gap between YOUR comments.

Washington is still "in play"

It seems like almost every time I read a story where I end up cheering for the judicial branch, the name "William Alsup" appears.
(this story and Oracle v Google come to mind)
This guy has to be one of the best judges on the federal bench.

Nah, you're giving them way too much credit.
They see "socialism" and think "somebody I look down on is getting something I don't think they deserve".
It's that simple.

Now we just have to hope that Inslee signs the Hansen bill rather than the Wellman bill. I haven't heard anything about which way he's likely to go.

/div>Re: Re: Am I reading this right?
Yeah, sorry. Not sure why that didn't occur to me.
/div>Am I reading this right?
From the article:
So Musgrave is stating that he knows who owns this account?
That seems like a good (and maybe unnecessary?) way to attract attention for a certain thin-skinned representative.
/div>Wrong word, I think
The last paragraph: "Society has failed to deal with etc, etc,"
"Fail" implies that there was an attempt made.
I think it would be more accurate to say "Society has refused to deal with etc, etc,"

Hopefully, in the not-too-distant future, a court somewhere will provide these legislators with a "teachable moment".
