Seriously. The life cycle of a TV is 2 or three times longer than a PC, so it make ZERO sense to buy a TV with PC functionality. Sure it is an extra box, but it is a whole lot easier to replace your Roku/AppleTV/DVD player or patch your HTPC than to pray that Samsung or whoever issues security patches for your TV./div>
Netflix started doing this with TV series they provide. Man is it addictive. The #1 best feature in my opinion for their service. Not only will it autoplay the next episode, but it automatically launches the episode you paused directly from the main show link. Awesome. Makes TV so much better./div>
I learned algebra and trigonometry and calculus and differential equations through real life examples. I was able to get a second major in math because a high school teacher of mine took the time to sit down with a below average math student and explain the real world implications of the stuff he was teaching. It's a lesson I carry with me today.
Too often education isn't used to empower, it's used to exclude. I wouldn't be surprised if many leaders of higher education see math as a "weed out" course to eliminate students that don't match their vision of a student./div>
This reminds me of the dead end that navigation systems are. Why build a device with a two to three year lifespan into a car that will operate for three to five times longer? It doesn't make any sense. Siri for the car is just a button that WON'T WORK after three years!! I've always respected Apple products, and have owned their high end laptop and desktops, but the cost is just too high. You can count on Apple making an OS or hardware design decision that strands you, forcing a significant outlay of cash to keep from falling behind. It is their business model and it is wildly profitable.
I believe this connector is a key reason why a universal standard like Bluetooth Audio has never been core to Apple's strategy. They keep building walls. If they keep it up, at some point customers will stop climbing them and leave./div>
If I was running DropBox, I'd think that bringing my biggest most well established competitor up on charges for "criminal conspiracy" would be a great way to prevent them from ever generating the kind of brand image needed to compete with me in the mass market.
Lobbying dollars well spent...get the Justice Department to discredit my competitor, using the RIAA/MPAA as a convenient scape goat!!
Isn't that what regulatory capture, in this case IP Law, is all about? Using the government to keep competitors from beating me in the marketplace?/div>
While the loss of manufacturing capability is a concern, the greater concern is the government's willingness to allow domestic industries to exploit the lack of regulation in other nations to make their products there and increase profit. While I believe that some level of exporting capability benefits the U.S. I wonder why most industries aren't force to apply at least basic work and safety standards to any factory anywhere as a condition of importing goods.
This is the crux of the problem. Lawmakers need money to get elected, and the average Joe doesn't fund multi-million dollar election campaigns. The key to fixing the regulatory problems and add more fairness, is to find ways to reduce the value, to politicians, of money versus the public good ./div>
Mike, so either people quit using their Blackberries because they couldn't or they were shocked into awareness by the death of a famous footballer. Either way, there is a STRONG correlation here. This was a multi-day event that affected every BlackBerry user equally. It is clear that the outage and the reduced accident rate occur at the same time. Incorporate data about weather, holidays, comparisons with previous years and, it's my opinion, this will become a compelling example of the dangers of distracted (by smartphone) driving./div>
Wow, an I guess you don't follow the news. RedOctane, who makes Guitar Hero, has clearly stated that they would drop the use of popular songs if the licensing agreements forced them to pay a performance right. Your argument makes no sense and follows the typical fallacy that undervalues innovation and overvalues content. People buy Guitar Hero to play the game, the use of popular music is a value add, not a core value. RedOctane knows their business, and knows that it isn't a source of welfare for the performance rights organizations./div>

Seriously, I would wager that the vast majority of politicians have NO IDEA what a TLD is, let alone that various countries have their own./div>
