  When Washington state wanted the Winter Olympics, they were asked to rename the Olympic mountain range and restrict the countless businesses that have Olympic in their name.

  Here in Washington State, we couldn't bid on hosting the Olympics because we have an Olympic Mountain Range that would have to be renamed!

  The banks are forced by recent laws to "clear" checks in two days. Our lawmakers didn't take into account the actual physical process of getting that piece of paper to the issuing bank and back within those two days.

  As to your point # 1 - The problem is a sense of design. I know lots of techie folks that design the most god awful screens and pages.
  
  Most of us were taught programming, not visual design.

  Actually Boeing is booming in the Puget Sound, now. The sales of the new jets are going great, and there is lots more hiring.
  
  There is also talk of doubling the number of assembly lines.
  
  Boeing's ups and downs have more to do with the international market then a percieved dislike of the employees.
