There is no answer for the current crop of FB idiots. Fact is, a huge chunk of Americans where never taught any critical thinking skills and this is the reason why these bubbles exists in the first place.

The only thing that can be done is to teach the current generation of children critical thinking skills and to make sure they understand the internet is not void of the necessary practice.

This is a consequence to having a stupid public and is a great example on why proper education from birth on up is needed for a free society to function correctly.

Even if by some miracle he was able to convince the world to backdoor encryption, how is he going to convince programmers? Encryption doesn't need a nation state, nor a big corporation, nor a big donor. If you can write code, you can make a encryption program

Dont add me in this, i was saying all along how stupid it was putting nails in the bed

even the late baby boomers are stupid

This case gets so confusing on what it is about. Its really about what the all writs act lets the government do, can the government force apple to get engineers already working on something and move them to do break this device? If that is not a undue burden then i dont know what could be.

If the government can force apple to build software, can they get them to build other software? Maybe a effective brute force program? wont they need one? what about android products, could they get apple to try and crack a android program? all these of course sound ridiculous, but this entire case is ridiculous, so lets not leave out the far extremes...Michael Ramos clearly isn't

I know this is off topic, but I feel it must be said. First a quote from your article

"the general thought was that the best predictor for finding a future abuser was whether that person had been abused themselves. "

Then a quote from the article(you linked to)

"While it is important to realize that not all abusers were abused as children, and that many if not most people who are abused do not go on to become abusers themselves"

So your wrong there, and the only reason why i bring this up is because people who where abused dont need to have that used it against them, and it is often times because of false information like what you lead your article with.

Im disappointed, i always thought tech dirt was interested in facts that are provable, not a stereotype thought that lends a hand to leaving people in abusive situations.

Simply put, shame on you for what you said, you should re-write that article because you are simply wrong in that premise and it undermined everything you said afterword.

Can i point out that somewhere in this craziness is a lesson about how not to use Facebook.

People are stupid, greedy, corrupt, or just want to watch the world burn. Posting anything on Facebook is just asking to be targeted by one of the groups mentioned above, these immoral people will also not hesitate to use your kids against you, so posting your kids is just doubly wrong.

and also, why the fuck am i the only one to see this?

    Re: problem

Your wrong here, protection of our democracy comes from whistle blowers who have always found sympathetic journalist to help them.

Your argument is a simple one but ignores the larger context, who really cares if she helped snowden? it doesn't matter, its a distraction to the fact that we just found out that two governments that are supposed to be 'free' have setup such intrinsic spying operations that even china is drooling.

If you agree with what the government are doing then just say so, but to suddenly argue that she is not a proper journalist because she helped snowden realy ignores the larger issue and is irrelevant to the problem at hand.

You should be VERY concerned that they are trying to use terrorism to shut down journalist, unless you like oppressive goverments. 10 years from now you could very well be saying long live the king, less you be charged with terrorism for wishing the king ill.

    Re: Safe As Ever

If your ego must insists that your so special that he is giving away your money you gave to him, then you could make yourself feel better and that small amount of money you gave to him fed and clothed one of his children, it was the other saps money that he gave away.

You could also save yourself some time writing such pointless posts and never buy another Microsoft product, or any product for that matter, that you feel is over priced again...wow, problem solved! wasnt that simple. Even though you have a big ego, it doesn't have much in the way of brains.

You are a perfect example of a applefan, thank you for reinforcing the egoistical ignorant stereotype that is a mac user..fucking hilarious

" "dwarf planet" or a Kuiper Belt Object (KBO) or a Trans-Neptunian Object (TNO). "

Pluto was downgraded because he lacks any direction in life, 248 years to what earth does in one? thats just lazy. Clearly he is in a stage of exploration (A trans what?! never mind I don't want to know)

If pluto to ever rise to planet status again, he needs to stop hanging out with his friends in those odd places (clearly with these strange orbits, he is hanging out with the wrong crowd) What else are you doing out there that your not showing neptune?

Let me give you a piece of advice Pluto, next time you come near near Neptune, latch on and hang out with someone who knows how to be a planet. Im sure he will take you on as a moon, baby steps right?. Regardless, you need to get your act together or just leave; the Whole family is watching and you already let us down once, lets not do it again.

    Re: Context?

I logged in to make the same comment. Context is important when trying to make a point, while the article does go on to explain, it leaves me wondering how 'or state' fits in the whole thing.

I could look it up sure, but im not the one trying to prove a point.

    1. blaming just obama is ignorance at its finest
    2. probably not every 0 and 1, just the important ones
    3. the universe will probably end in coldness when the last star dies out. Unlikely we will be alive then.
    4. I dont care what the government thinks, recording is surveying, I dont care if its never looked at. By there logic they could install a camera in everyone house as long as nobody looks at what its recording...until you know, someone does.

The most disturbing thing ever said in a court in a suppose free society

"It found that even the fact that Nikki's site contained material that was clearly legal (articles criticizing the censorship legislation), the interests of the children must come before freedom of speech"

Fortunately, its not in the US.....yet

Its not wise to leave your door open, and its still illegal to walk in someones house even if there door is open, however, if one doesnt lock the door and gets robbed i doubt robber is going to be called brilliant.

My point is, i dont believe snowden did anything brilliant, but i am 100% sure that NSA had there network setup incompetently.

When money, government, and ignorance collide, the resulting wreckage is this kind of insanity. It is impossible for rapid share to follow this, and it is impossible for the governments to enforce this. The 'copyright companys' will not gain either as its simply not going to have any effect on what they are trying to stop.

All that is gained here is humiliation for them and amusement for us, with a few rich lawyers sprinkled on top.
