I'm very worried that the town of Madison is very much like the town of Sandford, Gloucestershire and that this is just an attempt to get rid of even more hooligans.

Dodging the question is the entire point of pointless questions like this. It's the entire foundation of safety to ask such a hypothetical dilemma and find a way to avoid such a situation from occurring.
For a trolley that one assumes truly does have one switch that only switches tracks, there would be a sophisticated camera and computer system to determine when the trolley has to slow down or stop. Not to mention the fact that a trolley set up this way would be going slow enough that if it somehow isn't programed to start an emergency braking upon detecting a stalled vehicle (and the kid on the other track and the fact that the conductor hasn't pulled the switch to change tracks), it would be programed to go at speeds slow enough to dent the side of the bus and then push it along causing moderate damage (broken arms or legs; painful, but life threatening) to the kids inside the bus at most. A painfully slow trolley, but ten miles and hour is still at least twice as fast as a average human walking.
I'd rather a corporation buy the dumbass congressman rather than the "smart" congressman. At least we know when the dumbass is being a dumbass (which happens to be every time he/she opens their mouth).

I would argue that at one point, copyright was an appropriate thing to have. It ensured that a content creator would be able to safely make money from their work for a reasonable amount of time without worry that someone else would simply steal the work and slap their name on it and not suffer repercussions.
The problem comes from being able (or forced to now-a-days to get anywhere; unless you turn to the internet) to transfer ownership of copyright to a corporation which is capable of making money from a content creator's work, better. Once they have seen that money roll in, they are reluctant to lose the cash cow they have on hand, so continue to make copyright worse and worse just to squeeze an extra buck from folks.
It's just a break in the clouds showing a ray of light. You'll look at it for a moment and marvel at the novelty of it before you look back down the road and pray that the storm you're driving through doesn't spawn a tornado in your path.
1) The people making Revision approached Square BEFORE even putting it on Steam to ensure there would be no backlash. (this, more than anything, is probably what did it)
2) You have to own a copy of the original Deus Ex. (honestly not to big a deal; if you're getting Revision, you probably love Deus Ex anyways)
3) Revision is generating zero profit. (this helps too I suppose)
Like all things odd (say, a bunch of adults watching a kids show) that is viewed by Mainstream Media™ , only the bad was solely looked upon and constantly paraded about- porn pics drawn by people mostly- which didn't even cover a tenth of the things actually created by the fandom (music, animations, stories, etc) all in an attempt to make Something Different™ look bad.
