This is complete madness.. 1. Kids will get hold of them - for example they will steal them when preparing their paper rounds in the shop on a morning 2. There will be black markets in schools selling them 3. The 16 digit numbers will be posted online 4. Somebody will crack the code and release a keygen 5. Use a VPN and its a non issue anyway!/div>
A few weeks back, I needed to get hold of a court order from 2009 (in the UK) - after travelling around 3 different courts to find where the document was located they then charged £10 to photocopy 3 pages!/div>
How about a law which says that the copyright holder must, within 30 days of receiving a valid request along with proof of purchase, provide a DRM free copy of the electronic file?
This would allow games companies to protect their work during the initial window (assuming the DRM isn't broken day 1), streaming companies like Netflix to continue to protect the video streams etc, whilst at the same time allowing researchers or consumers to have access to the non-DRM files without breaking the law or requiring exceptions./div>
The ultimate aim here is probably to prevent the non-payers who "jump" the trains. My mum gets a train every day for a short journey (~9 miles), and every day she sees the same people who have not bought a ticket on the train trying to avoid the ticket inspectors (if they even make it to that car). If there was a quick way to confirm identity before boarding the train then these people would be forced to pay. There are a lot of unmanned stations with no ticket facilities or gates in the UK./div>
Since the snoopers charter allows the government to lie in court and prohibits questioning the evidence gathered in this way, it makes no difference if they even collect the data in the first place.. they can just make shit up which can't be questioned!
See section 56: Exclusion of matters from legal proceedings etc.
(1)No evidence may be adduced, question asked, assertion or disclosure made or other thing done in, for the purposes of or in connection with any legal proceedings or Inquiries Act proceedings which (in any manner)—
(a)discloses, in circumstances from which its origin in interception-related conduct may be inferred—
(i)any content of an intercepted communication, or
(ii)any secondary data obtained from a communication, or
(b)tends to suggest that any interception-related conduct has or may have occurred or may be going to occur.
Seems like I will need to learn how to set up OpenWRT on my router to be connected to a VPN 100% of the time with bypasses for Netflix, Amazon video and BBC iPlayer.. or just torrent everything through the VPN and stop legally paying to watch stuff./div>
"One is an individual temporary transaction, and as such is going to be much smaller, the other is a permanent transaction that only happens once, but also costs significantly more as a result."
Right, because going to the cinema costs less than buying a DVD? /s/div>
"Notice that no where in there is the DOJ saying anything about paying Apple to do this. In otherwords, the DOJ and the FBI want Apple to do this for free! Why not go this route with GM and have them make tanks for the military for free? Ir's the same principal. "
You mean except where they say the governmet is willing to provide reasonable reimbursement?
"Apple asserts that it would take six to ten employees two to four weeks to develop new code in order to carry out the Court’s Order.... Even taking Apple at its word, this is not an undue burden, especially given Apple’s vast resources and the government’s willingness to find reasonable compromises and provide reasonable reimbursement. "
.. that the game engine is updated each year for free - so your copy of TS2014 is now TS2016 in your Steam Library. If you are keen on the game and buy DLC a few times a year then you are supporting the company in a similar way (and for similar finances) to buying a yearly release./div>
To be fair, the game comes with numerous routes and trains available. For the past few years at least, updates between the major versions of the game have been free - I'm now on TS2016, but originally bought it in 2012.
The DLC usually adds several features such as scenarios (missions), liveries etc, and there is tons of free stuff available if you look around - some of it very high quality. The chances anyone would want to buy all the DLC is quite slim as each download provides quite a few hours gameplay./div>
Looks good and I want one.. but with the state of the footpaths and roads around here I would be constantly dodging potholes - it could be quite nasty if you hit one with wheels that small!/div>
Idiocy

Sounds quite cheap to me..

For example - Italy `90 Soccer on the Amiga (released in 1988) had a hardware dongle that plugged into the Joystick port./div>
