It is worth noting that whilst inks and toners shouldn't ever need to be region locked, there are some consumables such as fuser kits that are region specific - simply because the parts in them run at different voltages (in the case of a fuser, it will have a halogen lamp within it that needs the correct mains voltage)
No mention of the output which is disappointing.. 500mA chargers are too slow these days - I'm looking for a charger that can output 2A to 4 or more devices simultaneously! Also, OEM 9V quick chargers are starting to show up - need a third party device that can do this as well!
Brings back memories of when I went to college.. I had many ways around the security - using a RM Networks default account for login, using a modified version of regedit to gain additional privileges then installing whatever we wanted. We gamed the system mainly so we could set up Quake LAN parties - our 10Mb account limit was too small for keeping the game files in so we needed access to the C: drive :)
Other tricks I used was a DDOS that caused a BSOD on any machines in a list - we used that as soon as a teacher walked in the room to crash all the gaming machines.
I got into trouble a couple of times - but never serious.
Why shouldn't PC be able to do split screen? Mine is attached to a 42" TV, pushes 1080p@60fps on virtually anything you can throw at it, has several 360 pads that can be used with it at the same time...
What I really want devs to do is allow dual monitor gaming on PC - i.e. 2 monitors, one for each player on the same PC!
Soundcard manufacturer - used to be pretty big until they fucked over the community by breaking their soundcards with deliberately broken drivers to force you into buying the new model.
At least they aren't as bad as Creative - who deliberately borked their Vista drivers and threatened to sue the community user who figured it out and released fixed ones...
Somehow, I agree with nVidia on this one... Laptops are prone to overheating anyway and one of the most common faults is the GPU needing reballing due to heat.
If a hardcore user really wants to overclock then they can most likely still use nibitor to overwrite the default clock settings in the cards BIOS. Essentially, removing this bug / feature is just another hurdle.
If each one worked out to be ~155 pages then you would have 2 million pages. For reference, our scanning bureau would charge approx $10-15 for prepping and scanning each file or around $25-30 for photocopying including labour, but we don't do any redaction.
What you fail to mention in the article is that despite the number of people illegally downloading music being in the region of 70% in 2009, profits for the industry have only increased by 1.5% in the region - less than inflation.
