I think we can all agree that we don't want this sort of communication hidden. Essentially we want public officials to stop using private devices for this sort of communication at all. However unless one of the communications comes to light how can you tell (bear with me). more importantly how do they prove they are NOT doing so without granting access to all of their private messages. If they are using good encryption then it may well be very difficult to access their own devices without their consent. Techdirt itself has covered this. It also raises questions bout their privacy. does public office strip those rights? now I'm not defending hiding official messages but I can see that enforcing this is not going to be easy/div>
It's been ages since I came across one which was but, but this is mainly due to the existence of software like this. They gave up on that battle. They did try for a while though./div>
All this must be doing wonders the sales/downloads of personal VPN encryption tools. I don't have much worth spying on but I have started using more secure methods as a direct result of their policies. I wonder how many others are doing the same./div>
It seems that now if the authorities think your guilty, you will be found guilty. In cases like these the legal process is becoming just an act for the uninformed to hide what is happening. They will ensure the system is weighted against the accused that they will be found guilty regardless of the facts. The question is as more people realise what is happening will the system become more just; or will they just skip to locking people up and taking their assets without the show trial./div>
As the assholes tend to ignore even basic consumer rights if they can get away with it a bill of rights seems a bit pointless.
On the other hand adhering to a published code of conduct which granted the right to put Gamer friendly logo of some sort on you product might not be a bad thing for the consumers. If you could find someone trustworthy to decide who got it..
On a positive note. In this age of austerity, this story shows us a way to identify where we can make cost savings on staff salaries without adversely affecting the quality of education./div>
As fighting a Troll helps everyone attacked by the Troll. Wouldn't the logical thing to do would be be to team up with the others being sued by the same Troll and share the costs? Or does the system make that impractical?/div>
The Fawkes Mask is meant to be a sign of the people and should be seen as such.
It's adoption by anonymous has reinforced it's use as a symbol of protest against authority. More an more people who do not necessarily agree with Anonymous's views are using it as such.
I think Anonymous can take some of the credit for this trend though./div>
