There is just too much of this going on. These fees aren't for anything. You see this where ever you go. I worked at a car dealership that started charging a "shop fee". When I asked what it was for the service manager told me it was for the disposal of any fluids or parts that come off the car. It was just money for nothing. The customer got nothing out of it. A way to raise prices without raising prices. Give the fee a name and somehow that makes the charge legit./div>
Me too. I have written him a few times about COICA and all he does is sight bogus numbers about job losses (more jobs were lost because of copyright infringement than when Geneva Steel shut down according to Hatch) and how he is protecting america. He makes me sick./div>
I would imagine that you're right but there are enough people out there that would use this stuff to cheat and since it's software based my understanding is that it's much harder to detect. So in the end it will be the people who played by the rules (i.e. those who aren't using it to cheat) that end up being punished./div>
How then do you keep the online service playable? I understand wanting to mod stuff that you own and offline I don't care what you do to your console but what about those who use those same tools for cheating and thus ruining the service for everyone else who plays. Part of the appeal of the PS3 for me was the FREE multiplayer. An while it still will most likely remain that way it won't be very fun anymore when people use this to cheat./div>
Like others have said, What should Sony do? Look at MW2, that game is almost totally unplayable now because of this. As for buying a 360, you'll get screwed there too and pay more for it. How much is a hard drive for a 360? Up until recently you couldn't even us a USB drive and even that is limited. From the beginning Sony has let you put your own hard drive in or connect any drive to it and use it. And to those that say the airforce is now screwed because Sony removed the other os feature, YOU ARE WRONG. You had to agree to the update. You can say no to those and leave your system as is./div>
Sony never forced anyone to update their system. During the update Sony made it clear what was going to happen. If you wanted to keep the "other OS" feature you could./div>
I wish my Senator would stand with this guy instead of against him (my senator being Orrin Hatch). I've written him (Sen. Hatch) a couple of times and all I get back is some bogus claims about job loss and protecting IP rights. It sickens me./div>
Maybe this has more to do with online cheating than anything else? I'm not sure if cheating is possible with this device but it really sucks when you're getting clowned because someone is cheating. That said, I don't necessarily agree with how both Sony and Australia are handling this./div>
