I'd love to abolish all legally created intangibles (copyright, trademark, patents etc...). What kind of negative repercussions could this create?
I don't see how piracy can be considered 'absolutely' disrespectful and self-centered. Both disrespect and self-centeredness(sp?) are internalized concepts and by making that claim you're suggesting that everyone pirates for the same reason. For example, you can pirate a song because you love an artist and wish to share it with others. Just because it's illegal doesn't mean you were intent on being disrespectful and self-centered.
Also, nothing personal, but you sound like a fuddy duddy. You should leave the internet for a while and go tell children to get off your lawn.
It may not be the generation's lack of respect but simply the older generation's lack of understanding. It's a continuous cycle. A few decades from now we may see a shift in ethics and morals that say otherwise.
Does thug life still happen? I was hoping the internet would curb the appeal of thug life. Maybe someone needs to start a charity that works towards getting thugs addicted to MMORPGs. That would clean up the streets./div>
I don't see that getting very far. Bits are simply the construction materials behind the product. You can't copyright wood, nails or the like but you can copyright the products they produce./div>
Someone should notify Janine Gordon that Sergry Brin's Google+ profile photo contains a picture where his arms curve downward and his legs are in a v-shape. Also clouds thinning.
So your logic is that Apple wouldn't have developed the iPad without patents? Which means it's safe to say that Apple will halt all research and development without patents?
If patents were abolished now it would simply mean an increase in the competitive market. Locks on devices such as "rounded corners" would no longer prevent other prospective businesses from releasing their own tablets. We'd probably be instantly flooded with a bunch of low quality tablets but I think we'd end up seeing the same things we see in the PC market. Choices.
Apple stands on it's own for personal computers while hundreds of other companies compete for the Windows Market. We'd likely see the same thing. Apple would produce iOS Tablets, and hundreds of manufactures would produce Windows and Android tablets. A few would provide a better product and become mainstream while other start ups would fall. Wash rinse repeat./div>

Facebook behaves this way, but instead of possibly providing support they tell you:
1) Your account has been disabled for a ToS violation
2) They will not tell you how you violated the ToS
3) There is no appeal process/div>
