IBM's Last Stand

Most people haven't seen an IBM PC for years but it seems that IBM is going to try and make one last attempt at launching a new line of PC's. Some analysts think that this new line will either bring IBM's PC division back into the black or it will be disposed of by next year. I think that IBM might be hitting the right niche, these new cheap laptops could bring them back (remember Apple a few years ago, before their new candy coloured iMacs were brought to market). Although, if they provide an expensive price to specification ratio for these laptops they won't have learned anything from the previous line.

    Also, I think that the Thinkpads do remain fairly popular with the laptop crowd, so I don't think the announcements today were that big of a surprise...
