Non-Traditional Career Paths Into Technology

With the economy still going full blast, mostly focused on technology, and technology companies still desperate for workers, here are two articles about people taking a non-traditional path to becoming techies. First, a story about blue collar workers going back to training programs to becoming technically literate. Second is an article about students skipping college to go straight to work for dot coms. Taken together they show some of the demand for high tech workers.

    19 Year old, and still kickin

    Well this is kind of related to me since i am a 19 Year old who works at a Startup company here in NYC making descent money. I am positve with more experience i will make a ton of it, but to be honest with you i still consider college as a possibility within the next few years, i do have time after all, i am 19 :).

    ...and older folks too!

    It's interesting to me that there isn't more written about 'older' folks getting retrained for high-tech. I am in my late forties and graduated from a community college last June. I had a full-time, well-paid position in my chosen profession nine months before I graduated.
    I discovered that my previous experience in business served to erase any age bias that may exist high-tech (I'm not so convinced it *does* exist).
