Man Charged in Spam Case

from the good dept

You don't often hear about people actually getting in trouble for spam, but maybe that's changing. A man was charged with forgery for a number of porn spam mesasges he sent. Admittedly, he is not being charged with spamming, but with forgery. I think it's a start though. Hopefully it will help scare some of the other idiots who are out there spamming people. Update: Another story about this case has the man claiming that net forgery is not a crime.

    Well..

The guy used IBM's domain name to fool the average joe into reading the mail. With all the trademark issues going around at the moment, I'm sure IBM could sue over trademark violation.
