Sprint isn't for sale

from the can-they-do-it-alone dept

The CEO of Sprint says the company is no longer for sale. But, analysts aren't sure Sprint can cut it alone in the big, bad world of long distance. Here's the thing. I have MCI for home long distance and their customer service is atrocious. I have Sprint PCS for cell service and I have yet to speak with one employee at that company that actually either gives a damn or knows what they are talking about. My fear is that companies like these will merge and will have a mega-company of morons...

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    Sprint PCS/MCI

I'm finding more and more that large, specifically phone, companies are having these problems. I've dealt with Sprint PCS and Pac Bell on several occasions and find their customer service (in the case of Sprint PCS they have the NERVE to call it "Customer Care") Horrible. These companies get so big that anyone you get on the phone is so far from the top that as long as they pick up the phone 30 to 40 times a day no one says a word to them and they collect a check. I'd be interested in finding a list of alternative companies offering similar services for DSL or PCS, possibley even just Cellular if I can get someone on the phone who knows what they're talking about, gives a damn and has the power to do whatever is needed within the company.
