Amazon.com Offers Ginger For Sale

from the ha-ha dept

The folks over at Amazon.com are having fun and decided to put up a page offering the mysterious Ginger (or "IT") for sale. The page is located here. They claim you can put your email address in and it will alert you when "it" is on sale. I like their little mysterious IT drawing.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    How retarded!

Why in the world would anyone go the route of offering something for sale already when they have no idea what the heck it is or even how much it's going to go for?! If you ask me, I think Amazon is just becoming desperate... we all know they havent been doing *THAT* well...

    Far-future email alerts worthless?

On a lark, I signed up for an email alert from CNN that was supposed to be sent whenever they figured out who won the election. I'm still waiting for that message. I predict that the same will be true of this Ginger. If it becomes the next big thing, everybody in the civilized world will know it before you get your email notification.
