Winged Web? Pinging with Pigeons?

10 years ago, a Norwegian programmer jokingly created a protocol for information transmission by carrier pigeon. Well, heeding the Andy Grove maxim "If you can imagine it, it can be done", a group of programmers have managed to put this protocol to use, exchanging pigeons to execute the first winged ping. In performing the ping, they released pigeons 7.5 seconds apart, but the pigeons all arrived at the same time, creating a bottleneck, and others got distracted (misdirected) when they saw their bird buddies hanging out elsewhere. Next time my router hangs, I'm going to blame it on pigeons somewhere...
