Tech Heavyweights Play Weakest Link
from the ever-wonder... dept
Ever wonder what all those famous technology execs and reporters do in their free time? Think they're hanging out together, laughing at the rest of us and playing games? Hey! You're right! Turns out they are hanging out and playing "Weakest Link" with tech trivia. So, okay, maybe it doesn't happen too often, but it certainly seems pretty weird. Don't these people have companies that they need to file bankruptcy for? Actually, it's amusing that the CEO of Egghead was there the day before they filed for bankruptcy.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Not Tech
It also burns me up whenever the NASDAQ is assumed to be all "tech stocks." Sure, there are a lot of technology companies there, but let's get some things straight: most dot-coms were not tech stocks. Pets.com was not. eToys.com was not. Only the ones producing new technologies are. Selling something on the Internet does not make a technology company.
