Techies And Their Holiday Gadgets
from the what-are-you-getting? dept
CNET's Tech Republic went out and asked a bunch of techies what they were going to give or were hoping to get for the holidays as gifts. Not surprisingly, things like PCs, digital cameras, PDAs, DVD players, CD writers, and MP3 players show up on the various lists. One of the more interesting findings: only executives were interested in getting an Xbox. I have no idea what that means. Also, about 30% of the responses said they were "unsure" what they would get people. These are probably the true geeks because either (1) they don't plan on getting anyone anything for the holidays or (2) buy for the holidays now?!? There's still plenty of time!Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Cuz they're wonks! hehehe.
Side note, not that I want the XBox to fail, I can't wait till it comes out and experiences its' first fit of crashes - mostly just because it always happens! And its' ammusing.
Like when they tried convert the HotMail servers after they aquired them.
Like the recent Stability marketing campaign and their own site servers crashing in the same week.
Like when...
