The Year In Ideas
from the lots-of-ideas dept
The NY Times Magazine today has a review of the "ideas" of 2001. There's some good stuff there. Many are downright bizarre or ridiculous. The full list is on the front page of the magazine and you can pick and chose what "ideas" you feel like reading about. Some interesting ones to check out: the happiness quotient of a particular country, the brain scan lie detector (which we've spoken about before), and the power of a single email. One interesting one, though is about the dropper popper - which I'll admit is a really amazing toy, but which is certainly not new to 2001. I had one many many years ago, and the thing rocked. You could play with it for hours. I didn't know they still made them, but now I know what to search under so I can go buy one.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
