Say Cheese To The Mobile Fridge Camera

from the try,-try-again dept

It's a bit scary just how many stories we've written about "internet-enabled refrigerators". Each time, though, they seem to have a different hook, from letting you surf the web to get recipes to spamming you when it thinks it's low on milk. Here's one that borrows an idea from a project we mentioned Matsushita was working on. It's an internet connected fridge that will take a picture of what's in your fridge when you shut the door. It will upload it to a server, and then let you access the image via your mobile phone. This way, if you're out shopping, you never need to remember whether or not you're out of something. Of course, there are some limitations. You can't see whether or not the milk container is empty. Nor can you smell the milk - though, perhaps it's time to revive that old DigiScents "ismell" technology and put it to use in this application.

How Do I Live Without This?

Sounds like a solution looking for a problem.

A shopping list stuck to the fridge with a magnet works fine for me.
