Naming A Kid 2.0
from the updating-our-naming-system dept
It's a bit gag-inducing, but a self-proclaimed geek somehow convinced his wife (against her better judgment) to name the newly born son of Jon Blake Cusack and Jamie Cusack as Jon Blake Cusack 2.0. Not Jr. Not II. 2.0. All I can think is what a poor kid - though, perhaps not in as unfortunate a position as the children named IUMA after a dot com publicity stunt gone bad. And, of course, there are all those other kids named after brands like Timberland and Camry. Now, once we get an IUMA 2.0... then, we're in trouble.Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Feel sorry for the wife who didn't realize she married such an insecure geek who's only hope to redeem himself is through his children.

2.0? Could be worse
Second, I wouldn't want to be John Smith 2.1 either. I'd hate to think what the ".1" might mean...
