Online Divorce Registry?

from the that's-when-you-need-it dept

Online wedding registries were an early e-commerce success story. It certainly makes a lot of sense. However, someone is wondering if the concept of the wedding registry really makes sense in the first place. After all, when people get married, they're bringing together two sets of stuff. Do they really need more stuff? However, after a divorce, when half (or more!) of your stuff goes away, maybe that's the time when you need new things. That's right. Someone has created an online registry site for the recently broken up or divorced called They Took Everything. Now we just need someone to set up a site where people can demand back the wedding gifts they gave a couple who later got divorced.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

Once everything is RFID-tagged, you'll even be able to track which household your gift ended up in.

    Dowry Killings

I'm curious how this might impact the culture of Dowry Killings in India -- will it make it better or worse?
