Googling For Porn Makes You Absent Minded?

from the well-that-explains-it dept

With China trying to stop Google from helping internet users find pornography, it appears that China has picked up its propaganda campaign. Boing Boing points us to the news that a guy quoted as part of a "man on the street" interview by China's state-owned TV news network claimed that searching for porn online can make you absent-minded:
"I have this fellow student and he's been curious about these kinds of things. He visited porn Web sites and ended up becoming absent-minded for a while."
Very convincing. Apparently, lots of other people weren't convinced by the guy's performance, and looked into his background... and discovered that he just happens to be a student intern at the very same TV news network that was asking the questions. So, if you can't find a man on the street to give you the answers that you want, apparently China finds someone they can coach.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    ejaculation possibly causes memory loss

Back when I was in high school, a morning radio host did a talk on whether it's true that ejaculation can cause memory loss. The big deal was that high school football coaches told their guys that they couldn't bang their groupies from wednesday through friday (until after the game) because ejaculation can cause memory loss, and the coach didn't want the players forgetting key plays.

Some people who claimed to be doctors called in to comment, and the general consensus was more towards that this is true. Now, seeing as this was the radio, I'm not sure it is actually true, but I know that some people experience short term hearing loss, fatigue, and other ailments shortly after coitus. So, it is possible that subsequent to porn browsing, one may be "absent minded."

This happens more often than you think. There was an article way back when regarding people trading in SUV's and buying smaller cars. One of the people 'interviewed' had nothing good to day about the pratice, and MINI Coopers. She lied about how much headroom was in a MINI, and came up with the stupid statement that as small cars take up less room on the road, then there will more pollution, because you can fit more small cars on the road then large cars.

    Umm, ya.
