DailyDirt: Put The Fun In Crowdfunding
from the urls-we-dig-up dept
More and more crowdfunded projects are popping up all the time. We've mentioned a few recently, like the video game that collected over $3 million from tens of thousands of folks who essentially pre-ordered the game before it was even created. Here are just a few more cool Kickstarter projects that look interesting.- Endangered is a short live action film project which tells a story about the world after it's been taken over by strange and dangerous creatures. At just the $20 level, your face will be included in the film on a "missing person" poster in a post-apocalyptic world. [url]
- You could probably buy steel wall hooks from some huge hardware store chain, but they wouldn't look like rabbits and come in a handful of colors. And why wouldn't you want wall hooks named Frank? [url]
- Long-form journalism isn't dying, and Matter wants to prove it by producing important and newsworthy stories. A team of reporters will be writing about science and technology stories each week, they'll be aiming to sell each article for 99 cents a piece. [url]
- To find more interesting stuff on entrepreneurship, check out what's currently floating around the StumbleUpon universe. [url]
Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.
While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.
