Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

The Brits have outdone themselves with a new culinary creation: Pizza Hut UK has created a hot dog stuffed pizza crust.

Holy shit! Stupidity gazumped! The KFC (Kentucky Fried Chemical) Corporation must be bustin' a nut!

I like hot dogs, but somehow the thought of having one inside a pizza crust just doesn't appeal to me. I mean, when I'm eating pizza, I want it to taste like pizza. If I wanted a hot dog, I'd order a hotdog. Just like when I want a hot dog, I don't want mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce on it.

      Re:

I'm sure someone out there has tried hot dog bits as a pizza topping... and I'm sure someone has also created a hot dog with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, too.

Personally, I think I'd prefer a higher-end sausage of some kind instead of a hot dog in my pizza crust.

        Re: Re:

Yes! If it was stuffed with Italian sausage rather than hotdogs, I'd probably like it.

To be fair, the only stuffed crust I've ever tried had mozzarella inside it and while I had no objection to the use of cheese, the cheese and bread together with no sauce made it kind of dry.

Some of the billboard ads look like parodies of anti-smoking campaigns, so it's difficult to take them too seriously (though the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council isn't laughing).

They could just put up billboards of the hot dog-stuffed pizza crust instead...

I don't eat hot dogs anymore. Especially after my grandfather's comment..."They have to do something with the lips and assholes".

Janet Riley, president of the hot dog council, said in a statement that hot dogs are "part of a healthy, balanced diet"

Now I don't know which side is worse!

It is fairly well established that cheap processed meats are 'dangerously' unhealthy, and putting them on a cheap processed bun with a bunch of processed chemicals certainly doesn't improve that, but neither does it justify a vague anti-hotdog campaign.

    Hot dogs ARE deadly.

It's an absolute, 100% certainty that anyone who eats a hot dog will eventually die.
