DailyDirt: Sleeping In Your Genes

from the urls-we-dig-up dept

Getting enough sleep has different meaning for different people, even though most people need about 7-9 hours a night. The CDC only started looking at how much sleep Americans have been getting since 2009, but the trend seems to be less and less, unfortunately. An estimated 50-70 million Americans have chronic sleep or wakefulness disorders, so figuring out sleep and its genetic components could benefit a lot of people. Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    What about...

morning people, night owls, people who are energetic all day, people who are lazy all day...

What about people who are only energetic in the mid-day?

I use an older version of Firefox (don't like the newer ones) and this page causes it to crash if I have Javascript turned on.

      Re:

Apparently it's not so much this page as it is my version of Firefox has decided to start crashing on various sites for no apparent reason.

I really don't understand this. I mean I know that by using an older version, some sites may not work correctly, but what I don't understand is why this copy of Firefox seems to be degrading on an almost daily basis even though I haven't changed anything. Even running it with a blank profile doesn't stop the crashing. It worked yesterday morning on this site and now it crashes.

Rekrul uses an old, unsupported version of Windows. He thinks that somehow makes it more secure.

So you're saying it's a virus that is giving Firefox problems?
