DailyDirt: Better Than 20/20 Vision...

from the urls-we-dig-up dept

The next big thing for computing could be a flood of wearable electronics. Google Glass has been getting some media attention, but for a long time people have been trying to avoid wearing eyeglasses (eg. LASIK, contact lenses, etc). Still, the possibilities of augmented vision seem pretty cool, and here are just a few other projects that could be better than seeing with your own eyes. If you'd like to read more awesome and interesting stuff, check out this unrelated (but not entirely random!) Techdirt post via StumbleUpon.

Thank you for reading this Techdirt post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

Techdirt is one of the few remaining truly independent media outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis.

While other websites have resorted to paywalls, registration requirements, and increasingly annoying/intrusive advertising, we have always kept Techdirt open and available to anyone. But in order to continue doing so, we need your support. We offer a variety of ways for our readers to support us, from direct donations to special subscriptions and cool merchandise — and every little bit helps. Thank you.

    fly vision?!

what about the top of your head? a 360 degree field of view doesn't necessarily include seeing what's directly above you.. sounds like a freaky way to see things, and I wonder how our brains account for the additional bandwidth of visual data... maybe the brains just throw away more? interesting stuff.

My son got his Occulus Rift set last week. Apparently it can be configured to take your eye correction prescription into consideration.

I'd have to go the Wavefront lasik round than then I'd probably need reading glasses. Maybe someday!

The only problem is people can hear you zooming in on something, if they could get rid of that do do do do do sound that would be great.
