It's not like pols and press haven't been careful liars, but any illusion of "no open lie" was put to death by Barak "If You Like Your Plan" Obama.
Schumer, King, etc. have established reputations of being less than truthful. There's no expection that will change unless the press stops sanitizing their "reporting."/div>
Like so many hyperventilating rants i the media, Geithner's are easy to spot. Excessive uses of adjectives, adverbs and insults are pretty typical of these days.
At least I can spot the headline quickly and ignore it all the faster./div>
Snowden's leaks aren't hurting national security but dishing a load of butthurt on The Obama White House. In light of the Grand Canyon-sized security holes in the online ACA (among other lesser concerns, like affordable health care), why on Earth should we trust anything they claim? Do we really trust the WH when Obama says, "If you like your privacy, you can keep it. PERIOD" ?/div>
Obama does whatever he wants, laws be damned. He's intentionally delayed portions of Obamacare (mostly for his corporate donors) and I think the talking heads are insane fools, insisting Obama will accept a delay of the personal mandate.
He could sign this bill and make a big show of it, then turn around and tell Eric Holder not to enforce it. SOP./div>
Tim, I think we all have those galvanizing moments as kids, and they root themselves in our memory (sorry!). Mine was in a theatre, watching yellow letters scroll toward the top of the movie screen on a star field. I was 11 when Star Wars was playing for the first time in 1977.
There were so many long, dry, empty years between then and Episodes 1-3, including the Energizer Bunny commercial with Darth Vader. Yes, let's make a fangirl's head explode decades later...
Now that it's been bought by the House of Mouse...talk about conflicted.
I hope Mario, Luigi and the others in the Marioverse live on in spite of this takedown./div>
"I can certainly agree with him not being unduly punished before he gets his day in court, but given the massive misconduct he's being accused of, why is he getting the same pay that he would were he on the job? "
Union contracts and a lazy, corrupt city government.
The slightest whiff of a possible union action against any elected official will usually put a stop to any thoughts of being fiscally responsible and not padding pensions. The squishy office-holder will cave or, more commonly, play kick-the-can and sweeten pensions and union money and power grabs.
Good grief, where does this "cop" think he lives, Detroit?/div>
Most of what is marketed as journalism and reporting is lazy, sloppy, and far too opinionated. You'd think some outlets would learn from their bumbling mistakes and urgent rush to cast blame on someone they disdain or want to damage. It was on display in the aftermath of the murderous rampage yesterday, too. I'm sure Brian Ross rushed to his computer with unconfirmed names to see if they were affiliated with the Tea Party or NRA.
He was a quiet guy? He was antisocial!
He played video games, especially FPSs? He's sick!
The shipyard was a gun free zone? MORE gun control!
There's got to be a reason this guy snapped. Some news reports said he could speak Thai...a very cool skill, imho, that may have opened employment doors for him. We need to find it because he sounds like an every-day Joe Neighbor who has a few oddities, but nothing outwardly outrageous. Nobody wants to go through life constantly seconding the guy next door who waits at the box for the mailman./div>
We've got "grown women" wearing clothes with teddy bears that could appeal to kids (:koffMileyCyruskoff:), and I dare you to go shopping for a 6-year old girl and not be confronted with a whole lines of slutwear.
This kind of thing is going to happen more frequently. We've got a mess here in Michigan where a male middle school teacher groomed, then repeatedly molested/raped a male student. Someone sent the parents a photo of an act, and it was posted on a porn site. The story just gets sicker from there and largely went unreported until until the school board president and a group of teachers wrote in letters of support of the molester. The garage of the parents was set on fire and the community is divided. Many parents are adamantly against these teachers holding a position and want them fired, but that would cause a union lawsuit and bankrupt the school system.
At least the rapist is going to serve serious time.
If it was a civilian saying this it would be 6 months solitary confinement and an outrageous bail.Sadly, it's not the civilian/government issue that keeps him on the job. Most government employees are unionized. These are the chumps that whined to Congress about having the same health plans as we plebes. They've most likely got an air-tight contract that's completely slanted to preserve this psycho's job (and union dues payments) in all but the most insane of circumstances.IF he gets any kind of punishment, he'll have representation at the table that will insist his extra-curricular activities have no bearing on his work. He could get the Lois Lerner treatment (weeks off with pay AND government network access). Firing this creep could take a very long time and WILL take a lot of lawyering money. And -- I will say the unsaid -- the racial card will be played./div>
My husband, holder of a MSW +30, a licensed counselor and hypnotherapist, says Obama has all the signs (and background) of a big personality attachment disorder. He's basically the opposite of Bill Clinton. Clinton wanted you to LIKE him, knew how to communicate with a smile, a handshake and at least appeared to care what people thought. Obama isn't afraid to show he's annoyed, bothered and irritated if the press shows the slightest hint of independent thought.
It's a heavy burden, having "those people" question you all the time and ask you for your opinion when you really don't care and just want to know your next tee time./div>
Congress won't. The USCOTUS has to hear a case before they act, and I doubt they'd rule favorably after the Obamacare debacle. Obama either doesn't care or doesn't know enough to care.
They will continue to do it because they CAN./div>
The NSA is just following the lead of every other governmental money-spender and information-hijacker - "we meant well!"
Welfare, socially manipulative and heavy-handed programs have been using that excuse for decades. It immunizes them from the lazy grubs currently working in mainstream news. "We meant well!" is their best defense and they're using it because it works.
If the NSA just says "we mean well," the press will shrug and look for another rabbit to chase./div>
Was it with the Detroit News (editorial staff leans conservative, overall business focus), the Detroit Free Press (good investigators, WAY over the edge liberal editorial page), any of the MLive papers or possibly the Oakland Press? FWIW, hope it was one of the Free Press investigators. They do a decent job of keeping bias at bay, especially when documenting corruption. Heaven knows working at covering Detroit, they've got experience...
Mike Rogers is my former congressman; I left his district in 2003. I was less than pleased with my current rep's vote on NSA (MI07, Walberg), and can only hope that Justin Amash decides to run for the DC Senate. Gary Peters is a putz.
I'll keep a sharp eye out for any report. On the bright side, Thomas Cooley Law students (Lansing, MI) got slapped down by the court today. They sued Cooley, wanting a refund for their legal degrees that haven't resulted in jobs./div>
Pelosi voted against the amendment because "her president" is in charge. The things she griped about during the Bush Administration are all forgiven under Obama. She couldn't risk passage in the House and Senate, which would put Obama in a very uncomfortable position.
"Defunding" is a last Hail Mary to stop deployment of bad legislation./div>
Guess I'll 'fess right now, if I see any government moles in my yard I'm gonna shoot 'em with my .44. I need the practice and those damn critters are eating my squash leaves.
I'm more likely to run into trouble with coyote of the four-legged variety if I were to venture into the state rec that surrounds my street, but I'll remember to watch for the cameras and drones./div>
All bets are off
