DailyDirt: Back To The Future... In 2015
from the urls-we-dig-up dept
The movie Back To The Future II takes place in 2015... so now that we've already arrived in 'the future' -- how have we done? We don't have flying cars (DeLorean-styled or otherwise) unless you count one-off hobbyist replicas that just kinda hover a bit. We could be on the cusp of getting hoverboards that actually work (but not on water, nor on any other surfaces besides a non-ferrous metal). Fax machines are still around, but not quite as popular as Back To The Future might make them look. If you liked this classic 80s movie, check out a few of these links.- Since time machines don't actually exist yet, either, we can't predict where lightning will strike -- to get us that 1.21 GW we need to go 88 mph.... However, we might be able to control large electrical discharges with lasers pretty soon. [url]
- The predictions of a movie from 1989 (the year Taylor Swift was born!) obviously didn't get everything right. But it had a few good guesses about 3D movie sequels, camera drones, a smart watch and augmented reality glasses. [url]
- If you're really still longing for a hoverboard, you can make one yourself out of plywood and a few leaf blowers. It's pretty noisy, and it probably doesn't work on water. Welcome to the future! [url]
