Ahh the cry of the marginalized. Go back to sucking the corporate teat Bono, your music has become cliche and is now mere detritus. Have fun snuggling with Metallica.
Remember this when switching to the newer CFL's.... they contain a very high amount of mercury. Should you ever break one by accident you will introduce dangerous levels of mercury into your house. The cost of cleanup can get into thousands of dollars, pretty much negating any saving you may earn.
But then I thought, well, since it is not actually a technical limitation placed on the hardware itself, and just relegated to their service...
Think about it, all the news outlets are awash with news of MAFIAA actions against bittorrent sites, which in their minds can serve as facilitators or copyright infringement. So to avoid being put on the hitlist WD opted to just say no to media file sharing, but still making it relatively easy (renaming the file extension) to bypass for those not knowledgeable enough to set up their own remote access.
So anyway, I understand their position (if I read it correctly). The only thing to be mad about is the climate in which they have to put in restrictions on the type of file sharing out of fear of MAFIAA lawyers.
It's sad but this is the kind of old guard bullshit that pervades all types of industries. Oh and @ AC: Your comment is bashing someone, but it's dumb enough that I'm not sure who it is bashing. -2 Internets
Think about it this way. Wikipedia is about quantity of information, not quality. While most everything is accurate in it, there is no guarantee that the entries are properly researched and that they are 100% accurate.
While I think that banning it is not the smartest move, it will end up forcing some students to dig deeper to do their research.
The porn industry hasn't been too involved in the HD format war for a couple reasons:
The VHS/BetaMax Porn involvement was more about just making titles available in the easiest fashion than it was trying to be a pioneer. It was the transition from seedy back alley XXX theaters to the living room. Now all the titles are already available on VHS/DVD so they no longer have the business paradigm shift to encourage their involvement.
Also, the HD aspect can make porn a little less 'cosmetic' to watch. With all the higher detail, now you can see every skin flaw, shaving nick, ingrown hair etc. So basically they are running into the fact that sex ain't always pretty.
I agree with everyone so far. The only way they should get more power is if they give it up somewhere else.

Yeah the Olympic 2012 committee has my promise that I'll not use the name Olympic in any Olympic reference that could Olympic the Olympic Olympic. Olympically, Olympic can Olympic Olympic the OlympicOlympicOlympic in 2012 Olympics Olympic Olympicced Olympic and can Olympic Olympic in Olympic and Olympic a giant Olympic in a large bowl of fruit salad.
Hmmm.... Jack Thompson may want to take note of this guy, as it looks like this is what Thompson will be reduced to in the coming years as a result of his own frivolous lawsuits.
