What security does it give you? a FALSE sense of security, that's what!
The TSA has so far only reacted to terrorist acts, and hasn't stopped a single one of them.
Oh someone hijacked our planes with boxcutters, hand in your nail clippers and other sharp objects.
Oh someone tried to explode a plane using a liquid concoction, hand in your water bottles and other liquids are limited to 3oz.
Oh someone lit his underpants on fire, better do a naked scan.
That's the TSA! Security Theatre: "Look, we're doing something aginst them terrists!"
Next time there will be a moron that hides a bomb in his ass, then we'll have mandatory cavity searches at the airports.
Even the biggest asshole can be nice to someone. That IS a known fact.
The media focuses rather a lot on the negative side of social networks. (ZOMG SEXUAL PREDATORS!!!!111)
But they ignore the beneficial sides, as shown in these tales of altruism right in this story.
Those are known facts too.
What kind of evidence were you expecting?
btw, that was not what you said in your initial post.
*puts on a lab coat*
My research shows yes, they are more likely to fake research. And you can trust me because I'm not a US scientist. *toothpaste smile*
Re: Parents' consent for their children / acclimatization
Yes, let's instill the image that the TSA are god almighty at a very young age, and that we ALWAYS have to submit to authority figures, they are never wrong.
Don't question the law, move along citizen. Nothing to see here.
If this groping had been done by anyone other than a TSA agent, it would've been assault, why not now?
If a story shows up in mainstream media, that Penn Jillette called the cops on the TSA, I will call bullshit on ANY journalistic integrity they might have had left.
Just so you know, Penn Jillette had an encounter with the TSA a few years ago, where he did indeed call the cops on a TSA agent, because he felt it was assault:
Linking is an incorrect term, as there were no actual links on the website to the offending files, not even to the nzb index files.
What this was, was a place were people could tell others that a certain file was spotted on Usenet. And then discuss the finds, such as rate its quality.
Often the spotters were also the ones who uploaded the files, but that upload was not done through any of FTDs services. As FTD doesn't offer any such service.
Learning? From the mistake of others? We all know that won't be happening. Not after the MPAA went the exact same route as the RIAA, even though evidence from the RIAA's actions pointed them in the other direction.
These old media execs wouldn't be able to grasp a profitable future if it was being dangled in front of them.
Perhaps using the acronym is actually detrimental. Let's all just say "Freedom of Information Act" request. That way there can be NO misunderstanding on the nature of the request.
Yes, this is a ridiculous idea, but now the acronym seems to obscure the meaning of the request. It's a request to free information.
They could've simply not said anything, and pointed to Fox. Which would be worse customer service.
Apparently Cablevision has a horrid history of customer service, but this one time, they think pro-customer. And I think it's then a good thing to reward that, in the hopes that it continues.
in an edition of On the Media a few weeks back, someone was proposing stronger copyright laws for fashion. Because apparently in France they have more protection on fashion and why shouldn't America have similar protections against copying.
Because young fashion designers can't exactly protect themselves from that type of copying.
BOB GARFIELD: Now, there's another way to attack the premise of the legislation that you're supporting, that the ecosystem for fashion is doing actually very nicely and that to the extent that people knock off Paris runway designs very, very quickly, that the trends move more quickly and, therefore, constantly churning everybody's closet, so that they are constantly in need of new fashions, that while individual designers may be harmed in the short run, the overall ecosystem actually builds their business over time.
SUSAN SCAFIDI: I would disagree with you on that, predictably. From 30,000 feet up, the ecosystem of fashion looks pretty good. The stores are filled with clothes, people are dressing fashionably.
However, if you come down to the level of walking the streets and talking to designers, you'll see currently a lot of boarded-up boutiques and designers who are really struggling. If those people are driven out of business, in part because of the tough economy and in part because they can't get return on investment, because the copies get in the stores even more quickly than the original, because of changes wrought by the Internet, then they can't stay in business, they can't keep creating over the long run; the ecosystem really breaks down.
In other words, they need laws to prop up old business models. They don't need to change, the law and the people need to change. And if they can't get protected, people will simply stop creating new things. *rolls eyes*
I guess, On the Media needs to get the Planet Money guys on?
If you want that analogy to work, I would have to forbid you access to my land, and then complain to you when you hunt game that came from my land but that you hunted on the property next door.
But I don't think I could claim ownership over the animals on my land.
So analogy fail. Better luck next time.
If anything Fox has an issue with the illegal providers and not with Cablevision in this case.
So, you block a whole bunch of people from your feeds and then you get angry when people try to find alternative ways of watching the games? What did they expect, that people would just roll over?
Oh wait no, they had expected that the outrage would be focused on Cablevision, who'd then be pestered into paying the higher fee. Bunch of greedy asshats.

Copy written?
Dear Ms. Griggs, it's not copywrite, it's copyright.
