You can not really understand the mind of an insane person
You can not really rationalize the though that drive an deranged person to act. Something triggered his out burst, and it could have easily been a bird flying to close to his head. To point is that crazy people do crazy things for crazy reasons. That is why they are crazy! Anything can set them off.
The iPad version cost more to get. The physical medium version is cheaper!
The digital version had better be significantly cheaper because I do not need to pay for printing and shipping costs.
Well these are certainly interesting to read while I am stuck at work on Christmas Eve.
I like the one about the women with really good memories. Reminds me of My daughter, at the age of 3, kept secret journal of he daily events and the weather. We discovered it when she was 5. She had recorded every day and since she could not write she drew the sun, clouds, rain, snow with happy faces, sad faces, etc. What I found remarkable is that she knew when the seasons should start to change as she commented that it snowed last year at this time and she was sad because of some event I had long forgotten. She still keeps a journal, she has a good memory, but no where near the lady in the article. Too good of a memory can be a bad thing when all you do is dwell on the past and never see the present or the future.
First off the USPTO is not there to validate or invalidate any potential patent - that is the job of the courts and lawyers.
The USPTO has just become a registering office so you know who filled the paper work first - that is it!
Implementing the USPTO as just a filling system is significantly cheaper. People are always welcome to contest the patent in court. As you see this off loads the cost of validation of patent away from the USPTO and into the hands of the courts and those who wish to contest them. The cost savings for the USPTO is massive!
I find it typically funny that you need a camera to win a Camera in the last one.
I have participated in many such fund raisers for clubs where the prize was something less than stellar for winner: I cheap point and shot camera for first place in a photo contest. A typical gun to the team with the best shooting skills. The funnies one was when all participates won 10% off the sponsoring store but you had to pay shipping and handling that was pre-calculated at 12.5% (if you bought items in stock you automatically got 10% anyways).
Next up a three year old computer to the winner a on-line internet contest!
Back in the glory days of Block Buster I read they would spend about $30 Million to purchase two movies to rent in each store. So for $16 million for the right to stream it does not sound to bad. You just need a large enough market to justify it. If they start to be see digital downloads the size of old block busters physical distribution then they could make lots of money. Makes it virtually impossible for a start up to enter the market with such high start up costs.
Given the unabashed greed of the movie industry I though they would want even a better deal like $16 Million PLUS 98.99% of Netflix's gross.
If it takes a court, and an epic battle of lawyers, to determine if single item infringes on a copyright how on Earth could even a single person make that determination not to mention any possible automation of the process by a third party.
I had to speak up on my last bill there was a small fee for checking my voice mail. Did not matter if I did from a land line or from my cell phone.
It took the call rep and their managers about 15 minutes to decide to credit my account to nearly $20 in voice mail checking fees. BTW: My account does clearly state that checking my voice mail is free from my cell phone.
I simply added little know, yet free, feature from my carrier call 'data block'. A I do not have a data plan on my phone and see absolutely no need for it I never want to accidentally get data charges. I fetch data on my cell phone with it's WiFi ability on my home network.
I like nokia cell phones because they are phone first.
But Nokia is definitely falling behind - the graphics are poor and the user interface is poor.
They have some big bonus though:
Ovi Maps is free (and accessible with no data plan)
The sound quality is fantastic
They offer lots of extra's for free.
Too bad all the 'extra' stuff that is free is surrounded by such a poor designed interface and sub standard graphics.
The other problem is that new (and hip) developers are going iPhone market. So the best apps are first coming on the iPhone and then the Android. Nokia's poor graphics and user interface does not make a good platform for these nice new fancy apps. My nokia has a front and back facing camera but Video Skype is no longer support on my Phone and Nokia's WiFi Video calling software has a piss poor membership and lack up cross software calling.
My current Nokia does everything I need of it and I do not need an expensive data plan to use those features. I COULD by a iPhone or other smart phone but my monthly cell bill would double (plus taxes). Not worth it in my books - I can live will a little clunky user interface and I have my iPod Touch for playing games on the go.
What about the Hijab or other religious based face coverings?
As I am considering joining the Jedi order (a recognized religion) my religious garbs is a hooded cloak that will cover my face giving me that mysterious look I want to get out of the Jedi Religion.
So I bet this Judge would all the prosecutors to freely search any suspect's home, vehicle, etc to see if they can find any potential evidence they might use?
Talk about letting the flood gates open for prosecutors to go fishing. Just accuse someone one, get this judge, then free sift through everything related to the accused and see what/how/if you can use it.
It is a civil matter but you think you would need at least some level of logic that would indicate that you need that evidence. IE: statements that indicated she posted actives to her face book page that validate your argument. Not just simply saying you would like access to 'see' if there is anything there for us to use.
Ah this is why I read and post here!

There is zero NEED for cell phones in school class rooms.
Back in my day if your parent wanted to get a hold of you they call the office and they came and got you.
There is zero NEED for cell phones in school class rooms. You are there to pay attention to the teacher; not texting or making phone calls. After all passing notes in classes is a no-no too.
Real computers can server a purpose. A PDA maybe but something like the iPhone would be laughable - Taking NOTES on an iPhone - ha ha ha.
The problem is a good acceptable policy the PARENTS will 100% accept. A teacher friend of mine has a simple policy - all cells phones ringers off and the top right corner of the desk (visible at all times). One Parent attempted to contact their child 3 times with no luck so they called the police as they where worried their little Johnny had a accident at school. So much for the policy - now kids hide there cell phones, ringers on, texting there school mates two desk over. Not at all distracting for the teacher or OTHER students when you have at least 10 phones ring every hour.
