Yeah, I'll take pictures for you next time I'm through there. No trash on the sidewalk or delivery trucks blocking streets? No idea what part of Chicago you're talking about!
Wait, the videos and pictures that show the police don't also show the people (also in the videos and pictures) being unduly harassed by the police? OMG!
Let's give a real life example right here in my town of Toledo. We do not drive, and public transportation is difficult for us to use due to physical limitations. There's the paratransit service for which you have to schedule at least the day before by 5pm. But we like to eat out when we can. Solution is a company called Order on the Way who will go to the restaurant for us and bring us the food. Yes, the delivery charge is twice that for a pizza (pizza places charge $3 for delivery, now) or a bit more than that, depending on where you go. But we can have that steak dinner for our anniversary without leaving the house. Find a good movie on Netflix and stream it to the television over our Roku device, and we've just spent less than we would have for a movie and a dinner out at the theatre.
No. Absolutely no. The police are charged with our protection and the enforcement of our laws. 1% is too many. one TENTH of that is too many. Police should be held to a higher standard, and should be prosecuted and punished at that higher standard. To do otherwise propagates the bad name these few give to the rest, and reinforces our distrust of those we are supposed to be able to trust fully.
which is why so much attention has been directed to sites having no purpose for being other than facilitating infringement
NO PURPOSE other than infringement? You're sure you want to go with that argument? Because that argument can be debunked in just a few minutes. ... There, I just uploaded a text file to a cyberlocker. It's all original content written by me. Yes, it's all complete nonsense, but I own the copyright on it! Oh, wait, you said it couldn't POSSIBLY be used for anything other than facilitating infringement.
Any google on 'plea bargain confessions' will give anyone more than enough ammo, actually. How about you start with a case like http://www.slate.com/id/2075319/ first. That's a real good one, and obviously they are lying about innocence, now, despite all the hard DNA evidence....
Plea deal confessions generally are worth about as much as confessions that are wrung out of someone over the course of 72 hours of nonstop interrogation. Frighten someone sufficiently and they will say ANYTHING to save their own hides. There's no way to prove or disprove his 'sworn statement.' I'll wait to see actual evidence.
That's why you read the linked posts, as well. Want to blame Mike for everything? That's fine. But if you're going to blame him for what the linked article doesn't show, then maybe it's time to step back. Because that is what you are doing, blaming Mike for the lack of information that he has no control over.
None of this has anything at all to do with the actual discussion, though. How do you feel about the police so nonchalantly walking up and pepper spraying people who are doing nothing wrong?
My question is this: If this were truly a campaign intended to help educate residents why did the police back off on it when someone started asking questions?
It is $10 per instance of copyright infringement (accusation). So download an album with 12 songs, that's $120 dollars. Who are these other copyright holders?
