But Dark Helmet, you really want the torrent sites to be making millions from advertising on pages that feature your books?!?!?! Think of all that money you are leaving on the table!!
May be funny to mention but there are actually TONS of farms in Michigan. And as a Michigander, this story PISSES ME OFF. I will be forwarding it to about everybody I can think of. It has become one of my main goals in life to see copyright undone. The oppression and removal of my rights that it represents is appalling. Good thing is most people in my generation (I am almost 30 now) sympathize and agree with me. They mostly understand. Most of them are even starting to forget the idea of "if I can abuse copyright I can make money". My points are getting through. Crappywood's are not.
Good ole 'murica, where even the law enforcement and people in power all around the country are so lazy, that they want to encroach on our constitutional rights.
For proof see: FBI, DHS: ICE, Most local police, the justice department, and now added to the list, school officials (I am sure there are others too, this is not an all inclusive list).
"But its just so hard to consider people's rights, lets just ignore them so that I can prosecute more and get the evidence I need. Warrant, whats that?"
I just wish that them -shooting their own feet- actually hurt them. After all this is said and done they will still -walk- away from it just fine and commit the same atrocities all over again against somebody else.
My fiancee and I share a dropbox folder with a small text list for groceries. Felt it worked better than writing down a list or having to remember to text it. Now we just add something to the list and its always with both of us. When we buy it, remove from list. Updates everywhere! =D
The saddest part of this is that an ex-Navy SEAL is hosting his app servers outside of the US for fear of what the government he used to work for will try to do. Does this fact scream out to anyone else besides me?
Re: "content that he backed up via Megaupload and lost"
You know OotB, you are right. Some humans are douchebags, and those douchebags have friends. Just to be safe we should kill the entire human race because a few good apples do un-spoil the barrel.
I find your use of the word 'retarded' offensive. Please proceed to the nearest police station and turn yourself in for sentencing to 1 month in jail, 60 hours community service, and a 300$ fine.
There are the specifics I could not remember (space goat). I was curious if it was worth mentioning the part where they became out ancestors or not and figured it wasn't as much relevant to my overall thought. I also remembered the part where they all died from disease, but figured we wouldn't quite end up that way.
For some reason this article reminded me of a section of a book, where a couple guys end up on a ship with 1/3 of a planet's population. The ship is full of all of the worthless people from the planet. All of the middle men, the lawyers, and tons of other pointless service staff that don't really serve that much of a purpose other than to justify their own existence. This ship was told that all of the scientists and the great minds would be on a ship behind them, and all of the great leaders and people who actually make sure things run well would be on the ship in front of them. For security purposes or through a glitch, this ship for some reason can't talk to the other two after liftoff, and the ship is on a predetermined course that cannot be altered by anyone on the ship.
... .... Sometimes I think it would be great if we could do something like that and get rid of about 1/3 of the population here on a ship just launched out into space. You know, since a great plague is coming to the planet and will wipe it out in 10 years. Or was that an asteroid?
Geez, it may not be a huge surprise or anything, but I will sure as hell take it. Can we get some better common sense like that in the US? It may not be everything we want and may not be the best, but it is one hell of a good start compared to the last, what, over 100 years?
So where are the trolls to say how we don't care about the artists and how file lockers and torrents are evil?
Proof positive that it is the user, not the tool that can break some rules. Torrents and file lockers forever! (Or at least until the next more efficient thing comes along)
