according to the segment (there is at least one on Youtube, but not going to link as it's not HBO's page), he WILL discuss this case, at length, whether you want him to or not. Which will most definitely touch on SLAPP suits in general, but probably more specific to his case.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Is The Second Amendment More Important Than The First Amendment?
again, it's no fault of the weapon itself, but rather the people getting their hands on them. Now the argument could be made for unexploded ordinance in Germany or Afghanistan, but that's a discussion for another time.
a firearm has one purpose, and that is to launch a projectile at high speed through the end of a barrel. It doesn't care whether a practice target or a person is in the line of fire.
now I am not "pro-gun" per se. I am more of responsible ownership and sensible regulations.
it really isn't. When our leaders (like Sarah Palin did a few years ago), and "News Personalities" Suggests shooting their opponents, someone is invariably going to take them up on it.
It's not violent video games (As Penn and Teller explained).
It's not Violent movies, since they have been around since moving pictures have been around, and it's only been (relatively) recently that this shit has been happening.
It isn't the firearms themselves that are the problem, see: Norway, where it is very safe there, and iirc, they have a lot of semi-autos, shotguns, bolt actions, and aside from that incident a few years ago, you don't hear of a mass shooting in Norway every week. We in the states have had firearms in private hand for a long time, and it's been (relatively) safe (aside from that stunt in Chicago in the 20's).
No the problem is a cultural or a personal problem. Something has changed. I posit that the problem IS television, but not in the way Trump describes it, but in the way Trump Embodies it.
Re: SO? About half of US states once advocated and made laws holding people in chattel slavery!
wow, how in the actual fuck can you equate net neutrality and free speech to SLAVERY? How the actual fuck can you make anything CLOSE to that rationalization? You sir, Should be in the Mental Olympics, because the mental gymnastics you must undertake is Gold Medal quality.
any company who puts profits above the American people to such a scale should be charged with, at the very least, sedition. Trump keeps saying "America First", then let him put his money where his mouth is. Put "AMERICA First" and not "Profits First".
If we are going to deride Twitter and Facebook and Huawei for not respecting Americans, then we sure as hell should hold AT&T, Comcast and Verizon to the same standards.
Hey Mike, here's the ultimate irony about that entire debacle. Earlier in that very same session, one of the senators... either King or Wyden (I forget which one.) asked everyone present whether they would recommend using Hwawei equipment. NONE of them would recommend it. The Irony is that the intelligence community (in general) doesn't like foreign companies spying on Americans, but the FBI director wants EVERYONE to spy on Americans
I do have concerns about this. Very real concerns. Look at what happened with the movies War Games and Hackers, look what they lead to. I think the first part of the problem is defining what AI actually is, scientifically. And even though it may still be 10.. 20 years off, eventually someone, somewhere will figure it out.
My response to what you just said. Ya, I am pretty sure Russian hacking stories AND an insecure election system stories have been around before Trump, Hell even before Obama's FIRST election. iirc. Those stories have been around since BUSH'S first election (That would be Al Gore, for those of you kids).
Re: Re: Except it's not a "line", it's a broad highway, and like on highways, heavy trucks SHOULD pay more.
can I add an addendum here? What he is referring to is the HVUT, Or Heavy Vehicle Use Tax, and it generally applies to vehicles over 55000 lbs gross weight. There are exceptions to that tax as well, Federal/State/Local govts. Agriculture vehicles traveling few than 7500 miles annually (Combines), etc.
