you know, all these '-tards' insults, from both angles, start to blur togeather after a while... if only because i've seen most of them used in both directions...
i've seen a quote somewhere, i forget the source, that was supposed to be critisizing the business culture in NZ... the gist of it was this though:
here, if someone runs a company into the ground, no one would touch them with a ten foot pole when it came to running another one. they're a failure, and thus clearly bad at it.
in the states, so the story goes, they'd be top of the list of people to hire, being both experienced and otherwise unoccupied.
now, that doesn't apply so much when the company kept right on making money, rather than actually failing, but this sort of silliness does seem an example of similar thinking.
that or those who pull the strings really see tech as such a threat, and hate it so much, that they see that degree of cluelessness as a Positive factor, because it means he's not ever going to try to make them change to deal with it, and thus is more likely to focus resources on the legislation angle etc.
basically, the entire share market/corporate structure/whatever encourages moronic behavior targeted at maximizing short term profit even if it causes the corporation itself to self destruct... depending on the nature of those making the decisions and the industry in question, (see banks etc), it may even take a large chunk of the globe with it (metaphorically... or even physically if one is increadably unlucky, i guess) and it would not change that.
well, skipping the execution part you can get yourself in legal hot water in NZ by posting cryptographic data, which you created yourself, to yourself... our legal system seems to have inherited Britain's fun habit of just quietly Forgetting about laws which are no longer relevant, rather than repealing them, which sometimes leads to some rather bizzare complications.
also, your car is a cow.
(legal logic regarding wheel clamps and car towing ends up falling back on some bit of English common law about what happens when your cow wanders into your neighbour's guarden. )
when profit per item is 100% (or near enough that the difference may as well be between infinity and infinity+1) then profit per Item is meaningless, and only volume is truly important on any level other than 'more money in the pockets of shareholders and executives'
of course, given that that is the entire POINT in corporations (as opposed to other styles of business, where it varies) one shouldn't be surprised.
usually jurors aren't allowed to discuss the case they're involved in outside of the court house (or whatever), to avoid various things that could unduly influence the outcome of the case.
specifically bribery and blackmail, and propaganda... then there's newspapers...
huh, it really doesn't work as well as it should, but the IDEA is that it's to help keep the trial fair, honest, and above board.
as for the first amendment... well, i've got no clue about US law, but the usual gist is that these kind of things are until the trial ends, Then they're free to say what they like.
i dunno... the US is weird.
(my you, NZ's constitutional documents ... we had to pass a bill specifically listing what did and didn't count and it grabs bits from various treaties, UN resolutions, acts of parliament, and who knows what... no nice neat single document for us, no. similar Ideals to what backs the US constitution though... well, with a bit of an antipodean/imperial twist, anyway. )

if you think of brand as director/writer, then it's roughly analogous to Author, and it becomes a somewhat logical plan.
if you think of it as Movie, then it's roughly analogous to book, and becomes a lot more questionable and a lot less reliable.

that 'and more' could refer to Anything. that is some terrible sentence construction right there. i mean, it's not even weasel words.
