Allow it but have very good content filter controls built right into the App store browser. If you want porn then can have it on the iphone. If your a parent and do not want your kids stumbling onto the App store genius to find the top 100 recommended apps for daddy are all porn.
I wish the doctor gave a copy of the results of all the test. Most people could not make heads or tales from the results and the doctor might have to actually explain and answer the patients results to them - the horror of actually doing some work.
I wish my mom's doctor gave her a copy of the cancer test results as soon as he had them. After mom got worse and after countless requests it took a legal threat for the doctor to produce the cancer test results. The doctor claimed the cancer was not that significant and mom should wait on treatment - maybe next summer. The actual test results, which he had signed indicating he received the results the next day, tell a different story. One quick Google search on the type of cancer and every site indicated it was a very aggressive cancer and dramatic treatment needed to be done as soon as it was detected. Only after WE told the doctor how bad the cancer was did he reluctantly refer treatment - atlas it was too late as small spec of cancer had already spread to every organ and brain. Stupid arrogant doctor!
I plan to spend my retirement years issuing take down notices, making false claims and generally pointing out the mistakes of such law suits. No point in counter suing me because will have no retirement and will be living of the governments dime. I will probably move to Florida too!
Content maker should not make their products so desirable... and then they spend money on commercials and advertising how much I need it... no must have it. I think they they are actively promote me to get their contend by any means necessary. After all in this modern crazy world it is never my fault - right?
filters have their place. They are not 100% full proof - nothing is.
At work we block all social sites, streaming video and audio, gaming sites, sites with questionable content. Although when you get to a bad site it automatically presents you with simple form to fill out to have the site reviewed and added to a safe content list. Yeah the guy that spends his time on gambling sites fills it out and claims it is work related to maintain his gambling habits - so sad NOW BACK TO REAL WORK!
The is a definitely a difference. The novice photographer can get lucky and take a good shot. But it does take a keen eye and experience to consistently get good photographs. The best way I can say it is that a good photographer is like an artist with a vision.
The iPad is a nice idea... I already have it and it is called the iPod Touch. Yeah the iPad is bigger but that is about it. It needed value added features to make it unique - IE: Camera, GPS, SD slot, etc. The iPad also lacks a real useful screen to use it as an ebook. So I see no advantage of it.
Now package the iPod with a Camera, GPS, SD slot, and a screen that is suitable for long term ebook reading as well as a being a good 5X7 screen and I would buy it in a second. I can live with a touch screen key board. As it stands there is not real reason for me to buy the iPad.
Being that I do not have 3d system in my house but would like to see Avatar again I would happily pay to see it again. I am hopeful that our local IMAX picks up the 3D version for showing. I would gleefully pay to see the 3d in all the glory of IMAX.
Like other movies that are visually stunning I do prefer to see them on the large screen.
Being involved in a couple of class action law suits I have found them to be very strange business models.... largely to the benefit of the lawyer or law firm in charge.
One product I complained about the manufacture clearly admitted guilt but since they had already settled a class action law suit I had to seek my damages from a law firm. I do not know which is worst - trying to get a basic repair cost out of a major company or hoping to get 10% of the repair cost covered from a law firm. The company has at least the interest of trying to keep me a future customer... the law firm not so much.
I like how slashdot handles the registered user making comments as an Anonymous Coward. I can stay logged in and a simple check box on the comments allows me to make it from an Anonymous Coward and I still stayed logged in.
There are times when I like to make a comment that, for what ever reason, I do not want associated with good name. Maybe I just want to call someone an asshat or talk about some potentially embarrassing moment. Or maybe it just my alter ego talking while my brain is on vacation. In any case I like the option to post as an Anonymous Coward when I so choose.
I can understand why newpapers do it. Although I comment on one that allows me to change my username associated with the comment fairly easily. This has the added advantage that all my comments are still viewable from my one registered account even if I use different Names on the comments.
The rise of currency has the same effect. Instead of a barter system people can use this corrupt and evil thing called money or currency to buy illegal goods.
We should do away with all this currency at one. I personally can help you dispose it at no cost. Just send me all your monies and the problem will be solved.
Canadian Member of Parliament often put up some really poor proposals just to be able to judge the feed back. In two years time they will have the feedback results and reword the proposal and see what the reaction is on the second time.
Only on the third re-write to they actually do anything.
Record labels are a greater threat than terrorists
Record labels can already destroy your finical life through the use of law suits. Now they want to take away your rights but they feel like it. It is scarier than any terrorist group because they want the laws written so all their crazy actions can be legal.
We should just label the Record labels as a radical terrorist group bent on undermining the basic principles of freedom and the destruction of society.
They needed a rating system. And rate each application. Then on a maintenance screen the user could opt-in or opt-out from viewing certain applications based upon this rating.
As a parent, right now, I sit beside my kid as we scroll through the apps. I do not look forward to the day when the top 25 apps are all bikini apps. I for one would like the option to restrict the results returned based upon some rating. The key here is MY OPTION.
It all comes down to final costs in the end.
For example:
The total cost of employee - including salary, benefits, office space/supplies/support, etc. maybe $200 an hour.
The total cost of an Consultant - fixed rate of say $150 an hour.
Easy to do the math here.
I have worked at places where the cost difference was as different as $2. The Consultants worked out to $2 cheaper than the staff after the total costs of everything was taken into account!
The Consultants are typically all very experienced and work like dogs. The regular staff typically know nothing or very little compared to Consultants. The reason Consultants are there is provide expert services for the short term. The goal for the company is to have the Consultants eventually transfer knowledge to your staff. This way long term maintenance can be done in house. The thing is this long term maintenance is guaranteed cash flow for the Consultants. So when maintenance come about a wise
Consultant will price themselves just below the total cost of the client.
