Honestly, with one elderly woman versus a group of teenaged boys, her initiating physical conflict probably wouldn't have been the best idea. Not only because it would cost her her job, but because they could hurt her considerably worse.
They overstepped their boundaries when they sought to "punish" this person, for any reason. That's not the job of the police. The police were arrogant in their actions, and deserve to pay accordingly...in a way that will hopefully make them think twice before pulling a stunt like this again. I'm talking firings and possible prosecution of the officers involved.
She has ideas and she seeks to spread them. She doesn't attack anyone's artistic output or their integrity as artists, she merely believes, based on her own success, that she's found a path towards a more open, free culture, in which artists can thrive no less.
Why, precisely, does that create butthurt among your crowd? And why do you use it as a rationalization for your badmouthing of her?
Because as we all know, if you stop piracy, the 500 million people worldwide who regularly engage in it will totally tolerate your actions and reward you by giving you money.
Thanks! Pretty much all of the music I've listened to since 2008 was been from either Jamendo or Magnatune. I've had great luck so far...half of the tracks are worth hearing, as opposed to so-called "professional" content, where it's rare gems in huge piles of dung.
The opposite of what your crowd says, amusingly enough.
Same here. He apparently had a platinum record with some one-hit band about 20 years ago. 15 minutes of fame, followed by two decades of bitterness and anonymity.
If he can, why not? I'm a TV Master Control operator, and I can fix any car you put in front of me.
"Professional" doesn't mean "talented." "Amateur" doesn't mean "novice." And I'd rather listen to an honest amateur like Leigh than an arrogant boor like Lowery any day of the week.

For those of you still living in the US, you might want to think carefully about moving out of the country within the next 10-20 years, while you still can.
If you don't like the way they are offering the product, do without.
That's what I do. I believe in perversely granting them their wish...if they bitch about fans and their "entitlement", I don't grace them with my viewership. If more people did that, it would set them straight in a heartbeat.
Do you feel entitled to walk down the sidewalk? Do you feel entitled to use a public toilet? Do you feel entitled to walk into a Subway and order a Chipotle Steak & Cheese?
Accusing someone of feeling "entitled" to watch a show they like in a way that it's easily available to them makes about that much sense.
