O M G Becki!
He treated potential customers as something more than cash machines.
There are tons of games out there & next to no demos of anything anymore. While getting $10 out of every idiot who wants to see if the game is any good... getting $10 out of everyone who played the game, enjoyed it, enjoyed not being treated as a cash cow to be milked is much better. Willing to bet some of the copies sold were never installed & played, they just wanted to reward him for treating consumers better than AAA companies.

Given how the NSA likes to leave their toys laying around for anyone to find & abuse... perhaps someone with a functioning brain decided its better to patch the systems than hand every skiddy a well developed 1 button gui to hack the planet.

When you don't want to take the blame for being fsckups... blame someone else.
Perhaps they were to busy looking at the other Saudi nationals they sent home for having jihadist material & child porn in their possession. Can someone explain why the hunt for child porn lead Judges to throw out all the rules to make the NIT legal, yet they found men with child porn in their possession who were given a friendly slap on the ass and sent home, where others merely accused of maybe seeing child porn once are subject to no knock raids?
We had someone pull of a terrorist attack, killing citizens...
and then it took another 5 weeks to check on the other similarly situated individuals???

Re: The History of Music
People will always listen to music, just as they have since some caveman banged stones together in a way that pleased the tribe. It's the second caveman that we have to watch out for, the one who walked up and told the tribe that only the stones he licensed would be permitted

Perhaps they left hand should have a conversation with the right hand.
They are screaming 'privacy privacy privacy' threatening billions in fines for the slightest slipup, meanwhile the other hand is hacking devices of untold numbers of people destroying their privacy.
Well you can tell who is a terrorist b/c their avatars all have black hats on them so this should be easy. (They are this stupid)
Something scary they are trying to ignore, journalists, activists, government officials were also being spied on. Perhaps there needs to be a legal framework to look at who is being spied upon and why. We've seen thousands of examples of 'the good guys' abusing these tools to go after people who made them mad & then complain when their targets are warned.
Gee if you had a court order (that pesky oversight they dislike so much) you could have kept them from notifying your legit targets. The downside being is many of these investigations are based more on the religion or ethnicity than any actual criminal intent. We have to keep it secret or they bad guys will win!!!
Perhaps its time to ask why behaving like the 'bad guys' based on nothing more than hunches is acceptable. These tools can/will/are being abused against innocent people as well as bad guys, how can this be acceptable in "free" countries where they hold up all of these rights they have, and sue others for not living up to the law, but their own people can do whatever without oversight or control?

It let us save money to not be even slightly more proactive.
Our goal wasn't security for you, but for creating a network for police to access how they want.

Something something decades screaming about piracy, we think they finally got a glimmer of a hint seeing piracy drop as they made it easier for people to get the content legally....
They some dipshit said this whole vault thing worked well last time, some other dipshit decided that people would pay to add more streaming services (I mean really, its just like cable!!! They'll pay more for HBO, ShowTime, etc etc WE'LL BE RICH!!!!!!)
Rather than offer 1 or 2 really good streaming platforms (iTunes?) each of them is going to build their own (UltraViolet now with 17 more websites you have to log into first to verify your access rights) and expect consumers to pay a premium price...
They aren't very bright are they...
Hey, this golden egg is awesome.
But I bet if we cut the goose open, we could get a second golden egg, and we wouldn't have to wait for tomorrow.
Frankly, I can't see any downsides to this plan, and I suggest we implement it immediately.
Gentlemen, sharpen your axes.

They sailed past the platforms user controls.
They weren't used enough that anyone noticed what was going on, and while I think the shitlords who would wanted to have abused it suck, it really focused attention on the issue.
Much like facial rec tech coders, unless you have someone of color to raise issues, your code thinks 'they all look a like'.
Until something bad happens, no one considers the holes in the system b/c it never affected them. "Differently Abeled" people occasionally get trotted out for some things, but the focus is coding for the 90% & only considering the other 10% (yes I made up numbers, shut up) after someones on the floor convulsing.

Re:
they won't do this because they want people to have to buy the newest latest greatest.
by killing the secondary market, they are hoping to increase profits.
they get to claim the older ones are outdated, not worth enough, etc etc etc... but the deep dark reason is we can't get enough profit from our used tech & we don't want to employee people to service them.
from a company willing to disable features so they make sure you don't opt out of them spying on you (generating another revenue stream) this is putting their bottom line ahead of customers & the environment.

One has to wonder about the concept that they think bad guys will wear a black hat & explain their entire plan to them over the phone.
While they are screaming about creating good guy only access to encryption, they can't seem to be bothered to demand the holes in caller ID be finally fixed.
So possible unknown victims who can only be saved if we can see all of the dick pix scooter saved to his phone matter more than actual victims being murdered by cops playing dressup... b/c they think they live in a movie where the bad guy summons them to try to stop him to prove how awesome he is.
Dude walked into the home of a Rabbi & attacked... didn't call 911.
Dude walked into a church to murder people... didn't call 911.
Perhaps doing things out of an "abundance of caution" is the real problem. We have to taint the breast milk, embarrass cancer patients, colostomy patients, old people, toddlers, etc. out of the "abundance of caution" that somehow we can stop another terrorist attack... yet can't show us any plots they stopped by stealing things out of flyers luggage.
Caller ID is fatally flawed, somehow they can't secure it.
How many bodies until we tell them to nerd harder to fix it?
A registry for possible SWATTING targets... until the swatting dipshit gets the address wrong & the local PD murders the wrong target who never thought to register.
But hey lets just use QI to excuse them wanting to use their toys & shut their brains off to consider bad guys don't call them in.
Wacky idea...
When one of these 911 calls is coming in, autocall the number they are allegedly calling from... if you don't get a busy signal or a call waiting hit... maybe thats not REALLY the number its coming from...
