Mike, This really needs to be fought hard. I hope you are able to come out on top and not have it drag the site down. You are an important voice in the tech wilderness.
Please pardon my ignorance, but this SEEMS like insider trading. Could someone with more experience and knowledge in this realm help me better understand why it is or is not?
Fullfillment does take a while. If you want it sooner, use the links they provided with the source images, and have it printed yourself! Will probably cost you a bit more.
I personally applaud TechDirt for doing that. It really shows how that they practice what they preach.
It most certainly CAN be turned off. I specifically turn it off on mine. You can selectively turn off parts of it as well. For example, you can turn off bookmark sync, but leave history sync enabled if you want.
I would say transparency is not the problem as much as a lack of accountability. They keep on doing things like this, and lying to congress and everyone else, but none of them are in jail or even afraid.

I know you are exploring ways to generate revenue, but so far, the majority of products "featured" have been crap.
I feel this really cheapens the experience here, and it bothers me every time I see it. It colors my view of the site overall in a negative way.
I hope you will reconsider continuing.
